FLAME found a great life with a BC buddy she enjoys and a new FurMom who loves to lead an active life with her canine friends!  Flame will join her on hikes and swims and agility, too.  She knew this girl would be the perfect addition to her family and is thrilled to start working with her! Flame now lives in PA.

FLAME: A 10 month old Border Collie, Flame lives up to her name - she is not only gorgeous, she is fast, focused and ready to go!  She will only be placed with a BC savvy guardian who wants to engage her in activities like agility or even herding. Flame has the potential to do it all.  She is very very smart, adapts easily to a new situation and is always looking for direction. A pretty fearless girl, she needs mental, physical and emotional stimulation or she will create her own jobs! Flame is great with other Border Collies but best with submissive males since she's showing some of the bossy female tendencies common to the girls.  She settles beautifully inside and then is ready to go outside, eager to join the action.  Flame is about 35 pounds and is good with dog savvy cats.  She was surrendered to a Maryland shelter that works with GHF so Flame fortunately found her way to safety. Flame can be seen at the Farm or in her foster home in northern NJ.

An amazing pup, now named MURPHY, landed at GHF shortly after one of our former adopters wrote looking to add a 2nd geese chasing dog to their family. He'd come years before for now 3 yr old Mica and wanted a male pup so soon as he heard of this boy, he made the five hour drive to meet him! Murphy is on his way to a life of challenge and fun, living near the beach and helping his FurDad and BC buddies, do the job he's meant to do!  We're thrilled for everyone.

GLORY, a little pup that popped up days before our volunteer was heading to the Farm, hopped in his truck for a lift and into his heart, forever! One of our dear Friends of the Farm, he'd been waiting for another beloved BC friend, hoping to open his heart again and in came Glory.

This little 'old soul' with a big personality chose him like they were long lost friends, reunited finally, a wonderful moment to witness unfold.  So, Glory and Gary are off on a new journey with lots of adventures ahead and we're all thrilled to watch these two!

BELLA found a wonderful family to call her own plus a BC buddy who likes to wrestle and chase like she does but also loves the ball just as much, too! Bella hit it off with her new canine friend, Loki and shed her shyness pretty quickly as she realized she'd even have two boys to throw the ball her way a lot!  We're really happy for this sweet girl who was left living in a basement the past year because she chased the previous guardian's cats.
Bella naturally developed some anxiety left alone so much but that's behind her now with a FurMom who will be with her almost 24/7 and take her everywhere, just like Loki.  Bella can now blossom into the BC she's meant to be.

We said good-bye to Jasmine today, due to organ failure. At 13, she'd almost made a full year with us but no matter how long the time we had, we're all grateful to have met her…such a marvelous, spunky, fun filled girl…a classic Border Collie brain with all the gusto and focus that goes along with the breed.  Imagining Jasmine in her younger days was easy cause as a senior, she was so full of drive to go!   She met numerous summer vacationers as they came up for a GHF Tour and got to see just how special the seniors all were, playing, racing and running in the Farm yard.  She was the perfect diplomat for all that makes Border Collies special.  She will be sorely missed but has left the Farm with her special energy and we are honored to have had her at the Farmhouse Sanctuary, sharing her heart with so many.

JASMINE: A 12 year old Border Collie, Jasmine is a love and a major ball girl! She's just adorable, full of spunk and sweet as can be, happy to hang with the dogs or people and most happy, going for that ball! She's got a lot of focus and intensity when the ball comes out but otherwise, she's just one happy go-lucky, friendly, loving girl. This is one very special BC with lots of love to give and truly a treasure to be around. Jasmine is about 60 pounds but will trim up now that she's getting proper exercise again. Her former guardian died, leaving Jasmine with nowhere to go so she was abandoned at a PA shelter. Fortunately, the shelter works with GHF and asked us for help.  She is good with cats. Jasmine needs a ranch style home since her backend is a bit weak, making a lot of stairs too challenging.

BARKLEY found a great life where he'll have 6 acres to call his own, a pond, a canine buddy and a FurMom who LOVES to do agility! He's got it all and we know he'll love it all!  This sweet, outgoing boy quickly won the hearts of his new guardians as he asked for cuddles, raced around happy as could be and fit well with their girl Brandy, too. He now lives in NY.

BARKLEY: A 1 year old Border Collie mix, Barkley is a fun-loving, energetic boy who loves to race and chase and turn on a dime. When he landed at GHF, he zoomed around like a flash, happy to be on the move. He's a handsome dog but gorgeous to watch him full-speed.  Barkley is also a sweet guy who loves attention and cuddling though can be mouthy much like a pup.  He'll need a lot of toy play to satisfy his nature to tug and engage in activities with his person.  He is good natured and very smart, eager to bond with everyone he meets.  He is about 40 pounds and not yet tested on cats. He was a stray in a PA shelter.

FORD found a family that will cherish his sweet nature and love the brilliant mind of the Border Collie, having had a beloved BC friend before.  They fell in love instantly when he came up, like he always does, with a wiggly hello and he happily enjoyed all the attention. This sweet boy is ironically heading back to CT but for a very different life, properly cared for, not left to fend for himself as a stray. We're just thrilled for him!

FORD: A petite 4 year old Border Collie, Ford is such a nice guy, so friendly and so up for anything coming his way! He's a great boy, very content to be with people, friendly and sweet. Ford has a really nice nature and also a strong eye and will herd other dogs in a classic BC way! He's amazing to watch as he circles a pack with natural tendencies to work.   Ford loves making up chase games with the other dogs too and could easily enjoy a canine buddy or an active sports home.  He's a real toy boy and enjoys spending time playing with anyone who wants to join in the game. He was found as a stray in Connecticut and fortunately landed at GHF. He is about 35 pounds and is not good with cats.

SENIOR JAKE loves his foster home so much, it's like he rolled years off his life, now acting like a youngster! He's become quite the patriarch of the pack, keeping track of all his canine buddies do, including GHF alum, Tuck but also busy with the llamas that live there, giving him quite a purposeful job.  So, as things often go with fostering, Jake has a forever home with one of the GHF caretakers.  Both she and her husband fell in love with this special boy soon after he arrived but had been waiting for Jake to give his vote to stay which of course, he has!  Jake is now happily living a big life with lots to do and lots of love. A big thank you to everyone who has been an angel to Jake, helping us handle all his medical needs!  He's now healthy as can be!

Please say hello to our oldest rescue Border Collie ever - age 17!

JAKE: At 17 years old, we are amazed that Jake is here to share his spirit with all of us. He's surpassed Skip at age 15, the senior of the Farmhouse Sanctuary. This breed is stunning in how long they can live! This Farm boy is long lived, with good genetics, from the days when over-breeding didn't happen. Stable, sweet, curious and good natured along with the strength to endure, that's Jake. He came to us in rough shape when his former guardian aged with dementia and was unable to care for him properly. When the man died, a caring friend stepped in to be sure Jake and his partner, Megan, found their way to safe haven at GHF. Jake's had his first bath, one of many to come to get out years of dirt and muck. Fortunately so far, his diagnostic vet work is showing he's in good shape, awaiting a few lab results. Jake is a bit confused with this change, so we'll have more pictures to share as he gets settled. At 1 year of age, he was hit by a car and lost a front leg so getting around is not so easy but we are starting to see some tail wags!  We're rooting for Jake to blossom here and enjoy some more time sharing his wonderful spirit.

WATT found a wonderful new life where he'll be with his new guardian 24/7 and enjoy so many canine activities. While meeting him at GHF, his new FurMom pulled out her agility equipment and got a chance to see how he might respond plus she and her canine friends spent an overnight getting to know Watt. By nightfall, she was thoroughly in love with this petite powerhouse and knew she could have a blast giving him challenges and providing a loving life.  Watt loved his new BC buddies and headed out to a great life!

WATT: A petite 7 month old Border Collie mix, Watt is full of energy, super smart and incredibly agile…he would be a fabulous sport candidate with his incredible speed and accuracy…he's quite something to see as he flies across the field and turns on a dime. He's very food oriented and loves to learn plus his toy focus is intense.  He's also very very eager to please and would be a delight to train. When Watt meets a new dog, he is all about active play and loves to wrestle, chase and race with such pleasure that he really needs a young canine friend who can match him. Watt has the body structure, mind and emotional desire to please, that makes a great little performance dog if someone wanted to do agility.  He's so young right now, he could be shaped to enjoy many activities.  He tends to fixate on cats so best in a non cat home. Watt is 30 pounds.

LUCY & MURPHY found a new life with former GHF adopters who had a wonderful pair of dogs who recently passed and wanted to welcome another pair into their home and hearts. They saw we were filled with a few pairs to consider and Lucy and Murphy were on the top of their list - we agreed!  This wonderful duo has so much love to give, showering them with kisses and cuddles and happy to play ball and frisbee all day long!  They were exactly what they wanted to bring home so off they went to upstate NY! We're thrilled for everyone involved. They'll be totally cherished and be their companions 24/7 which both Lucy & Murphy will love.  They can carry on in the paw-steps of Gizmo & Haley, another remarkable pair of canine friends.

LUCY & MURPHY: A 7 year old sister/brother duo, Lucy & Murphy are classic happy characters, busy with everything around them and eager to meet anyone nearby. They are super friendly and actually a bit funny, as they unwind here at the Farm, so curious to explore and jump into all the action. This is a return visit for them, though much older this time. Both were 7 months old when they first were abandoned for too much energy. This time it's financial problems leading them to GHF, but either way, we're happy to help them find the home for the NEXT phase of their lives! Both are trained on the invisible fence, both are good with cats and both really love people. Lucy, however, is nervous with young children so an adult home will be best. They are easier Border Collies, without that intense herding drive, much more companion oriented. Both need to knock off some pounds, like everyone in the winter! so we'll update their pictures as they trim down.

KEENAN found exactly the life he needed as soon as he was able to be adopted!  He was one of the final 11 Flat Creek dogs waiting to be legally released to rescue so soon as the good news came on Monday the 12th, Keenan was officially HOME!! Keenan had been enjoying life in his foster home as his guardians nervously waited to hear the court outcome. They had fallen deeply in love with him and wanted to give him a wonderful life, with them. So, we're cheering here at GHF, for Keenan and his new Furparents who are all very very happy!!!  He'll have a huge property to enjoy hiking and lots of continual love and care, forever.

JENN found a new life with guardians who love the breed and cherish having a little pup to bring along, giving her a great life. She'll get a chance to learn agility with her FurMom along with BC buddy, Ben who will be a great mentor. Jenn will have plenty of love with her new FurDad 24/7 and lots of canine play, too!  She now lives in PA

JESS Little JESS landed in just the right place for a great life with a BC buddy, a guardian who loves the breed and 10 acres to call her own! She'll be hiking and playing and enjoying the countryside of Vermont while being totally adored.  We're thrilled for this sweet girl.

JAYE found a new life with former GHF adopters who wanted to add a third buddy and may even give him a chance to do search and rescue training! We're thrilled he's now going to be loved, happy and challenged!

JETT absolutely won the hearts of his new family by showing that wonderful curious sweetness that comes with every young BC pup! They met a few dogs of various ages, hoping for just the right match and felt, in the end, this gem of a boy was just perfect. Jett agreed and headed out to CT for a big life of fun, love and lots of BC activities!  He'll be totally adored and have the best BC buddy, Goose, to show him the ropes!

FINNICK found guardians who described their visit to GHF like Christmas day, so excited to come meet the one dog they felt very, very drawn to add to their lives.  After a long stay, getting to know this special sweet boy, they decided he had to come home with them so off he went!  Finnick loved walking the fields, playing with toys and cuddling, all clearly making him feel right at home with them, too.  Finnick now lives in PA where he'll be a cherished part of the family. He had such a big day with them while at GHF, he was happily exhausted with many more days like that to come.

FINNICK: A petite 2 year old Border Collie, Finnick loves his toys and entertains himself constantly, a funny little guy, showing all his smarts by making up games. Sometimes we can hear all kinds of noises in his room as he happily tosses toy after toy around. He is also very people oriented and eager to learn new things plus super affectionate. Finnick is quite the cuddler and really super people focused. He is best with someone who understands the breed since he's active and needs mental challenges as well as a physical outlet for his energy. He's a classic young BC. He is very friendly with everyone he meets and would be happiest with someone focused on him. Finnick is better as a solo dog since he will protect his food from other dogs as well as toys but he has no issues with people. He is ok with cats but will stare waiting for them to move so best with dog savvy cats who are used to this. He is about 35 pounds. Finnick came to GHF from Ct where he had been taken from a home that didn't care for him properly.

PRINN, now Tess, loved all the attention and love showered on her when she met her new guardians, settling right in like she'd known her new FurMom forever.  This special bond unfolded instantly and her new guardian knew this was the girl she wanted to join her life, being her constant companion.  Tess will have tons of fun hiking, joining other canine friends, playing with her FurMom's sons and being a beloved friend to the family.  We're thrilled she found this new life and now lives in New Hampshire.

PRINN (Princess): A 4 1/2 year old Border Collie, this girl is thoughtful, good-natured, and curious, trying to sort out her new life.  She came to GHF due to her guardian's death so a lot changed quickly but she's taking it all in stride.  Prinn loves her ball so that helps her know things are going to turn out alright, happily racing around for a good game of fetch. She's clearly super smart and has all the BC traits. She'll walk right behind you, balancing off of you in herding style, very funny to feel this girl herd you ahead!  Prinn is very eager to know 'her person' and wants to bond with someone who understands her.  She is good with other dogs but could easily be happy as a solo dog with someone with her a great deal.  She is a bit overweight now from  under-exercise but will trim up quickly at the Farm.  She came to GHF from NJ and is good with cats.

The sweet, wonderful LUCE is water bound as well as land to do the job of chasing geese! She was a natural at the Farm as geese landed this season so off she went to join a GHF alum for a real life of working. Of course, there's also lots of play time with her BC buddies, too. She loves hanging with her new guardians and all the dog friends, a perfect life for her! We love Luce and are so glad she's found a life to use her mind, body and heart! She now lives in upstate NY working AND being adored for the special girl she is!

LUCE: A petite 1yr old Border Collie, Luce is a character, curious and outgoing and FULL of energy. She is a classic young BC who needs something to do all the time. She's fast as can be, loves running with other Border Collies and also loves to play non-stop with another young BC. She is a wrestler and chaser, making up herding games.  She's clearly happiest with a BC buddy and will only be placed with another young friend.  Luce also loves toys and happily entertains herself or will play a good game of fetch. She's got the agile nature of a BC and loves frisbee games, too.  Luce is quite a snuggler, happy to cuddle and share attention. A very confident girl, she came to the founder's pack and easily fit right in, adapting well to all the dogs and new setting.  Luce is best with dog savvy cats. She's about 30 pounds.  She came to a CT shelter that works with GHF.

CALEB: A 8 month old Border Collie, Caleb is a sweet, gentle boy who loves attention from someone special and shares his heart quickly. He can be a bit timid sometimes but really wants to connect with a person. Caleb also loves to play with other Border Collies and really jumps into action when dogs are around so we'd like to give him a BC buddy in his new life.  Caleb has dramatically changed since he came to GHF after being confiscated from the Sprakers NY breeding situation that was far from appropriate.  He was very skittish and fearful before, but now, after many months in foster care, he's learned that people are great and he can trust life is wonderful. He still needs help from time to time when he feels overwhelmed so we want him to have a BC savvy guardian who understand dogs with less than ideal histories. Caleb is about 30 pounds and best with dog savvy cats since he's got some interest in chasing.
CALEB & KEIR, now Casey were paired together to meet their new guardians who were always used to having a trio of BC's. So, both these young boys now have a canine mentor, 13 yr old Betty, plus each other to create all kinds of herding games and mischief as they grow up together. Their new guardians just love the breed and have plenty of time to focus on the needs of these two young boys.  Sweet CAL still has his skittishness from the Sprakers history, living outside with so many dogs and little human connection but Keir/Casey is a bit bolder so led the way quickly into exploring and being a happy young BC!! This trio headed out together and by the next day, we already have reports of lots and lots of play!

KEIR: A 4 month old Border Collie, Keir is a sweet, sensitive boy needing some reassurance. He does love to cuddle and is an affectionate, happy boy but can be a bit timid. Once he understands how things work and who is his person, he comes to life.  He's interested in everything around him and eager to join the fun, just needing a bit of help to build his confidence which is why another canine friend would be ideal. Keir is a thinker so watches everything to figure out what's about to happen and what he should do. He is food motivated so could be helped by positive training, as he learns new things. He was not exposed to much other than his previous yard and dog friends so needs a patient, loving person as his guardian.  Keir is about 20 pounds and not yet tested on cats.

CAWLEY found a new life with a BC buddy who can be his mentor and new guardians who not only love the breed, they love to do lots of things to keep them busy! Cawley will have a farm to visit often with lots of hiking, livestock and stimulation to keep his mind busy! And, he'll have plenty of love as he grows up learning what a loving home can give to him.  He will never be left outside again, instead, he'll have all the attention and adoration he deserves.

CAWLEY: A 4 1/2 month old Border Collie, Cawley is all about jumping right into action - he races toward all the adult dogs to confidently say hello; he barks at people to say hello and then he jumps into your lap, happy to say hello. He loves to cuddle. Cawley is confident about many things and would benefit from someone continuing to build on his natural temperament.  He is also in need of someone to help him experience all that life has to offer. He hasn't been many places or met many people while in his previous home so will need some guidance but at 4 months old, he's very able to learn.  He's a food motivated boy and he loves to play with other BC's so would be best with a canine friend.  He takes guidance from mature dogs and adjusts quickly to the play style the other dog allows.  He is not yet tested on cats and about 20 pounds.

FLAME landed with wonderful guardians who want to shape a life around her that is suited to this special, brilliant, sweet girl. She'll get to do some herding, hiking, flyball and whatever sports seem to suit her interests. We know Flame will love all this attention and love having so much to learn!  She's a handful to keep still, even for her adoption picture but they all that high energy and are thrilled she has joined their lives. She now lives in VA.

FLAME: A 1 yr old Border Collie, Flame lives up to her name - she is not only gorgeous, she is fast, focused and ready to go! Flame is about 35 pounds and is not good with cats.  She was surrendered to a Maryland shelter that works with GHF so Flame fortunately found her way to safety. Flame can be seen at the Farm or in her foster home in northern NJ.

TRIPP: A 1 year old Border Collie mix, Tripp is a great little guy, so incredibly happy and good natured, he's a delight to be around! He is all about affection, getting it and giving it and happy to crawl in your lap. However, he is absolutely so agile and athletic, he could has a blast doing sports for fun. He's already been introduced to agility and done beautifully, especially with the jumps, working in private sessions.  He is very biddable and enthusiastic about learning anything.  Tripp focuses well, is food motivated, super curious and and has great body coordination as flies into the air in one bound, up and over and onto anything he likes. He also loves to race and chase with other dogs too so would love a canine buddy or two. Tripp could easily join a large pack and fit in with all the dogs since he's so easy going. He has great recall and loves hiking!  He's about 30 pounds and good with cats.  He was was originally relinquished to GHF from a NY home with toddlers and he was just too busy for their ages. Then, adopted to a guardian interested in canine sports who then had a divorce so returned him to GHF.  She spent hours training with him so he's very ready for another engaging relationship.
BING & TRIPP will have a great life together! They met at the Farm, coming into rescue at the same time and were buddies back then. When Tripp returned (due to a divorce), they were paired together in a foster home and were instantly back to playing. So, when their new guardians wanted to meet Bing and were open to two, there was only one pal that fit - Tripp! So, these two boys will have 9 acres to call their own in a great rural setting and be the center of attention to their new FurMom and FurDad. We’ll have a picture to share soon!

BING: is ready for a new life!!! An 1 1/2 yr old Border Collie, Bing came to GHF from China thanks to the help of a wonderful couple who love dogs. He landed here with a prance in his step, curious to see everything that goes on and enjoy the countryside! Bing is very friendly and outgoing. This happy, good-natured boy loves to say hello to everyone and will bark eagerly to get a person to come say hi!  He's insistent on meeting everyone new!! He is also great with other dogs and would love a young canine buddy to wrestle and chase and play with. Bing is very good off leash and goes hiking with his fosterers and their dogs, happy to hang nearby. He is super active, loves to run, jump and play and literally leaps and bounds everywhere he is exploring, the happiest boy you can imagine.  He is about 35 pounds though appears a bit taller and larger in photos than he really is.  He is good with cats. Bing has some physical challenges with back limbs that are curved, either from nutritional deficiencies or confinement but either way, his back legs are a bit compromised and impact his gait.  We just improved his front right leg, where he had elbow dysplasia, so the joint is the best it can be to give him good mobility. Cornell's orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Hayashi, worked hard to give Bing the best results. Bing is likely to have arthritis in that front leg so would be best on supplements and monitoring his pain to consider medicine he might need as he ages.   He was originally abandoned at 3 months old by a guardian in China, supposedly throwing him out a high level window.  Fortunately, Bing's fate changed when he landed in a rescue there and then was sponsored for a trip to GHF.

Sweet COVE left us today (5/29/14) with a sudden internal problem that made it clear it was time to let him pass.  This lovely, gentle soul was only at the Farm for a few months but charmed everyone with his wonderful nature. Content to trot along in the yard, he never missed a beat to take in all that was around, alert and content to 'see the world'. At almost 15, we're all grateful we had a chance to meet him and no matter how short the time together, we will never forget him Cove was one of the sweetest Border Collies to grace the Farmhouse Sanctuary.

COVE: A 14 year old Border Collie, this boy is a doll. He's curious and loves to explore, trotting around the Farm, checking everything out. Inside he's the same, boldly heading right up the steps to see where our Caretaker has gone!  Cove is a gentle guy with a super sweet nature, clearly a people dog.  We're working through his health needs, included recently diagnosed anaplasmosis and other medical concerns and will update his bio as we know more. We hope he can have a few years ahead at the Sanctuary, enjoying all the Farm has to offer!  He came to GHF from a Massachusetts guardian who had him 6 months, taking him from someone else who could no longer keep him

Sweet petite DINA relaxed after a big romp outside, taking in all the new humans and canines now in her life!  She enjoyed her new BC buddies, GHF alum Weller & Rudy plus got to watch ball crazy Bandit show off his BC focus!  All in all, this gentle soul showed her sweetness and desire to meet and greet her new family, giving them the secure feeling they could add her to their lives and help her confidence grow.  Weller, the blue merle, was previously a confiscation dog from years ago, left outside with 161 Border Collies and Rudy, the red & white,  was super skittish too, ironically it turned out from the same breeding situation at Sprakers NY.  It wasn't until they were coming to meet Dina, that her new guardians pulled out Rudy's history and realized these two came from the same place. We are so thrilled they came for Dina and know the skills they've developed over the years, will help Dina become a very happy girl, too.  We'll be seeing Dina at the Canine Country Getaway since they love to vacation at GHF!

DINA: A 1 year old Border Collie, this sweet, petite girl is jumping into action, loving the new life she's leading! She has a big heart and happy, joyful spirit that's shining through her worries and fears. Her eyes light up as she joins in the action of the other dogs, hiking in the woods and hanging out.  Dina is learning that there are good people in the world but she's still very shy. A bit cautious about asking for affection, once in your lap, her body relaxes and she is incredibly lovable and gentle, showing her trust with a small nudge of your hand to pet her some more. Dina will need a patient guardian to continue the process, step by step but she is a brave, curious girl who responds well to a 'we can do it' approach. She's taking trips out in the world and doing well meeting new people. Her FosterMom is careful to build successes in each experience so Dina is never overwhelmed. She will need other confident dog friends who lead the way, helping lessen her anxieties about humans. Her tail is wagging now when she hears her fosterMom talking and eagerly comes over for treats and love. Dina was part of the Sprakers group of Border Collies, removed from an awful situation where they lived outside 24/7 with very little human contact. She is about 25 pounds and great with cats, even cuddling with them.

Sweet, gentle GWEN landed right where she needed to be for life! Her fosterMom has been involved with GHF since it started and met many, many BC’s in need, but when Gwen arrived, she knew she fit in their lives, forever. We are so happy for this little girl who so deserves a life of real love and attention, with someone so patient and caring, helping her blossom. Gwen will flourish, finding her way, step by step, with the love of one very special person and the loving family who all open their hearts to those in need.  Gwen now lives in NJ, joining other GHF alums, who are beloved family members.

GWEN: A 1 year old Border Collie, Gwen is a sweet, soft girl who is trying to understand this new life. She relies on the other dogs in her Foster home to show her the ropes and she is initiating play with every dog.  Gwen has even started throwing toys in the air, zooming around them and then racing around the yard, proudly holding them in her mouth! She is also bravely coming up the stairs to sleep in the room with her FosterMom and starting to understand the routine of a home life.  Gwen is nervous when the routine changes and still very worried about being petted, not trusting she is safe. She'll need a very patient person to help her continue to blossom, step by step.  Gwen is about 30 pounds and not yet tested on cats.

KENDALL, now KORA is officially home! Her foster Mom, one of our GHF caretakers, has known for quite awhile that sweet, little Kora was a perfect fit in her pack. She just totally loves her and felt that way as soon she arrived at GHF. She kindly offered to foster her and now it’s official, she’s part of her life, forever. This sweet, gentle girl follows her around, knowing she’s safe and supported and cherished.

picture to come

KENDALL: A 1 year old Border Collie, Kendall is a gentle girl who is curious and wants to explore but worries about trusting humans.   She will take treats from her FosterMom's hand but still has a hard time easily coming over to get them.  She watches her canine buddies to understand what's ok and what is not, taking great reassurance from them. She joined in a big walk with her friends, trotting happily along enjoying life with her pack.  Kendall has a long road ahead as she sees, step by step, that life can be safe.  Her first reaction is to flee whenever pressured so she will need a very patient person to help her unfold with confidence. She is about 30 pounds and not yet tested on cats.  She is learning how much she likes life inside where it's cozy when she got a brand new bed to call her own and immediately, sank right into it!
Kendall was part of 46 dogs taken from a bad backyard breeding situation where she was left outside 24/7 with little or not human contact.

Sweet, adorable little JADE caught the attention of her new FurMom who felt a very special need to come see her right away. She’d been thinking about adding a new pup, waiting to see how her search might unfold so a simple visit to the GHF website, suddenly took her breath away - she knew this was the pup she had been waiting for! She made a very long drive from Cape Cod, overnighted at GHF and went home so content with the girl that found her, too.  Jade’s new FurMom is a dog trainer and will give her a chance to do agility, freestyle, nose work and whatever activities she might want to enjoy.  We’re just thrilled to know Jade’s very intense thinking mind will be stimulated so perfectly.

JADE:  A 3 month old Border Collie, Jade is some pup - so smart, so focused and so looking for someone to really give her mental stimulation! She is a classic female BC with a confident nature and very athletic nature. She’s also a wonderful love bug, just the biggest cuddler. We really want Jade to have an active home with someone who understands this breed since she is so super smart and a complex thinker.  Jade and her siblings came to GHF at 7 weeks old and she is the final one here, waiting for just the right life

Gorgeous RILEE landed with the perfect people to enjoy her brilliance and bring out her wonderful nature, even more!  This very special girl instantly caught their attention, knowing she’d bond quickly as a family dog as well as be a wonderful, energetic BC which they love.  Rilee not only has a new FurMom who enjoys the challenge of smart border collies but she also has a new boy to call her own who is so excited to have his own canine friend. Rilee loves being buddies! They’ll get to try agility together as well as spend plenty of time playing! She’ll even get a try at herding which Rilee loves! She now lives in Massachusetts.

RILEE: A 1 1/2 year old Border Collie with ABCA papers, Rilee is truly a doll - she loves everyone she meets, a super friendly girl with a real affinity for men -  she's happy to say hello and charm  you with her sweetness. Everyone who has met her, just adores her. She also loves her toys, making up her own games with anything she finds, happy to entertain herself.  Rilee is super smart, eager to learn and wants to connect instantly with anyone she can, such an interesting, classic young BC. She is so athletic and gorgeous to watch as she runs, then turning on a dime when her name is called, with instant recall to return. She came from a horse farm in Ohio, bought as a puppy by a PA guardian who then felt she was too much for her senior BC's. She will chase cats so is best with dog savvy cats since she won't hurt them. She did live on a horse farm and did fine with horses and chickens.

Sweet, brilliant GINNY found exactly the guardians who would not only love her, but they would adore her! They found this naturally curious girl, to be so wonderful, watching her snoop around the Adoption Center, searching for just the toy she wanted to call her own. They chuckled as she opened a cabinet door, lifted blankets and nudged things around, sure to find what she wanted - Ginny is some brilliant girl - and they loved that!  She’ll be their constant companion, enjoying lots of toy games and cuddling, too.Ginny now lives in PA, happily healthy, free from heartworm disease and on her way to a life being cherished.

GINNY (Guinness): A 3 year old Border Collie with spunk and curiosity that is a joy to watch - Ginny loves to check out the world. She is a very smart girl who is really enjoying the chance to explore at the Farm. Her loving nature is obvious as she says hello to everyone and wins hearts. Ginny loves her toys and will happily entertain herself with squeaky ones. She's a loving companion, really enjoying attention and sweet with her kisses.  She is a comical girl who finds endless ways to keep you laughing. Ginny  is about 50 pounds and good with cats. She is good with dogs but enjoys being the only dog, too. She came to GHF from a NJ guardian who was home on leave from the military and discovered she had heartworm disease, so relinquished her and her pal, Connor to GHF.  Ginny has a clean bill of health and is ready for a new life and it seems, she would be happiest on her own.

Serena (photo above)
Scarlet (photo below)

SCARLET & SERENA charmed their new guardians instantly. Their sweet nature came through loud and clear as well as their strong herding instincts. They’re excited to have them join in their mountain biking events, going along with other dogs for real work-outs perfect for this high energy pair.  Plus, they’ll teach them how to share in cross-country skiing in the winter. This active couple felt this great canine duo would fit their lives perfectly. Serena & Scarlet will have 5 acres to call their own with plenty of outdoor adventures, too! They now live in NY.

SERENA & SCARLET are 6 year old sisters with ABCA papers, who get along beautifully and have been together since pups. They are very sweet, friendly girls who come instantly to the whistle and a 'here girls!'  Both are smart, confident and curious and love playing with toys, entertaining themselves. Their room looks like a toy store! Scarlet and Serena are very very sweet and love attention and cuddling. They were originally purchased to work cows but the farm was downsized and they began having problems with the livestock so they were surrendered to GHF.  We want to place them together in a rural setting, not suburban, but they will need invisible fencing since both can clear a 6 foot fence easily. Most farm BC's are used to flying over fences to accompany their guardians all over the farm.

ABBY & RITTER landed beautifully with a new FurMom & Dad who just love having a bonded pair! They drove from Virginia to meet these two and some others, but in very short order, they knew this duo was exactly what fit their lives.  They had a beloved GHF pair before and wanted to open their hearts again to another set of wonderful Border Collies. Both Abby & Ritter loved all the play, attention and cuddling as they hung together in the Adoption Center.  Watching this meeting unfold, it was clear these four belonged together!

A beautiful duo: 6 year old Abby (the blue merle) is a happy girl who aims to please and loves to connect with any person - she is such a people focused girl. Ritter is 7 years old and loves his frisbee, a big time toy boy.  Both have lived together in one home until recently due to the death of their guardian. Abby and Ritter are pretty easy-going and have worked out their relationship where she's the boss though Ritter doesn't seem to mind. Both love attention and enjoy active playing. They are good with cats and trained on the invisible fence.  Both are carrying extra weight from lack of exercise but will drop that while at the Farm, enjoying all the running.  They came to GHF from a NJ guardian.

COREY landed with the best canine buddy he could want - watching these two together was adorable - absolutely an ideal pair for chase games, wrestling and being pals! It was an instant match!  Plus, his new FurMom and her daughter (and other kids) love the breed and are so excited to have another Border Collie in their family. Little Corey will grow up at the Art Kids Camp his new guardian runs, with kids from 6 to 16 doing art projects. As she said, usually the kids ended up painting pictures of their BC who grabbed all the attention!  Corey will clearly have a life of love and lots to do, even hiking in the trails behind his new home in Maryland and he’ll be the constant companion to his new FurMom too!

COREY: A 3 month old Border Collie, Corey is a classic observant boy, eager to jump into the action and so curious! He's a confident pup who loves toys and loves attention just the same. Corey is clearly ready for direction from someone who understands the breed and is very eager to bond.  A real people pup, he is a super smart, sweet guy who will only go to a BC savvy home. Corey is socialized with adult dogs and reads them well. He is about 25 pounds and is good with cats.

CONNOR found an exciting life with two BC buddies where he’ll be playing, learning and having a blast!  He loved his new female BC who is a playgirl like he is, making up chasing games - quite adorable to watch them click.  His new guardian is thrilled to have this sweet boy join her pack, just the perfect trio now! He lives in CT.

CONNOR: A 2 year old Border Collie, Connor is Mr Personality, ready to jump in your lap, go where you go and enjoy the action around him. He is super friendly and loves everyone! He is also quite the cuddler, a super affectionate boy.  Connor also loves to race and run, enjoying the play and action of being a BC.  He also loves to learn new things so could easily enjoy sports or training.  A real toy boy, he's fun to watch as he makes up his own toy games, too.  Connor is about 40 pounds and good with cats. He is great with other dogs so could live with a buddy or be on his own.  He came to GHF from a NJ guardian who was home on leave from the military and discovered he had heartworm disease, so relinquished him and his pal, Ginny to GHF.  Connor has a clean bill of health and is ready for a new life!

YEAH for CASS!!!!! She landed with a wonderful guardian as her foster mom who now knows that this girl is meant to stay! And, Cass surely agrees. She’s got a dog buddy, lots of attention and plenty to do but most importantly, she is absolutely adored.  Cass surely won her heart with that sweetness that is only Cass! We’re just thrilled to know she has a loving home now to call her own.

CASS: A beautiful 4-5 year old Border Collie mix, Cass is a lovely, remarkably sweet girl. She is wildly happy being with people and such a lover, it's amazing. Everyone loves Cass and she loves everyone!  This cuddly, affectionate girl also loves her toys and happily entertains herself or plays ball if you want to do that!   She is a real gem, good as gold inside and happy exploring outside. Cass is up for whatever you want to do, she just wants to do it with YOU!

Cass has a big challenge ahead so we are looking for someone to walk with her side by side as life unfolds.  She has a cancerous mass on her rib and while we removed the mass on her side, the unfortunate news is that there is more attached that is very difficult to remove.  According to Cornell oncology, she's likely to have a good stretch of time ahead but how much, is hard to say, perhaps four years. This type of tumor is slow growing with a low incidence of spreading (metastasis). We've had great success with homeopathic treatments with cancer specialist, Dr. Charles Loops, so are pursuing that for Cass.

This sad news is hard to hear considering this girl is so incredibly happy, lively and full of love.
However, no matter the outcome, we truly believe she deserves the chance to share her heart with someone special NOW.

Please consider opening your heart and home to Cass. We would consider a long-term foster situation or of course, adoption. Cass is best as a solo dog since she's a bossy girl and she's best without cats.  She's about 50 pounds.

Sweet RENNIE found a new life with a Friend of the Farm we’ve known from her vacations at camp, for many years. We’re just thrilled cause we are certain Rennie will blossom beautifully in her hands. Her new guardians loved this girl instantly and have met many BC’s, when helping to transport them to rescue but it is Rennie that caught their attention the most! She’ll get to do agility, nosework and whatever sports seem to suit her.  Rennie is going to have a wonderful time and we’ll get to see her in summers, too.

RENNIE: A 9 month old Border Collie mix, Rennie is such a doll, absolutely the sweetest girl. She loves attention and is so focused on people, eager to say hi and get cuddled. She is also, quite the athlete, running fast like a race horse, just gorgeous to see!  Rennie really enjoys a good canine buddy who also likes to run and pals up quickly for a good play session. Otherwise, she is a total people girl, quite the lover. Rennie is high energy so needs an outlet for her mind and body and could be great in sports. She is about 35 pounds and not yet tested on cats. She was a stray in a PA shelter that works with GHF.

Sweet, gentle LIZZIE landed with people who have all the patience and love for this little girl and are totally thrilled to have her join their lives. She instantly thought her new FurDad was pretty great, offering tasty treats, so she came right over to say hello, surprising even her FosterMom who teared up watching this brave girl in action!   Lizzie also LOVED that couch, happy to watch her new life unfold.  We’re so happy for this girl who deserved a good life, no longer living outside without human care….Lizzie is a long, long way from the horror at Sprakers.  As her new guardians said: “we’ll win her over with so much love, she’ll be happy."

LIZZIE: A 1 year old Border Collie, Lizzie is all wiggles and cuddles, following her FosterMom around the house. She's bonding well with 'her person' yet still having some worries about life, in general. After such a tough start in her life, Lizzie is now understanding that humans can be safe and kind. She is learning so much about life every single day; about walks with her person, about full food bowls and clean water bowls; about soft, warm places to sleep, and best of all, about gentle petting and whispered endearments.  From being hard to touch, she has become a complete snuggler - a dog friendly couch will be a must, preferably shared with you.  Lizzie is a quiet girl so far, very light on her feet, but does bounce for joy when interacting with her Foster Mom, with a full tail wagging to boot!  So far, she prefers quieter older dogs, or the very young, as canine companions, as the very exuberant ones still worry her a little.  Lizzie will need a loving, patient person to continue to bring her to her full potential as a beloved family member. She is part of 46 BC's taken from a bad backyard breeder who left them outside 24/7, with little or not human contact. Lizzie is about 30 pounds and is good with dog savvy cats. Lizzie will chase if a cat runs but not hurt them.

HUNTER has found the ideal life for him - complete with other BC friends and two guardians who not only adore the breed, they absolutely understand what they need. Hunter will be playing frisbee, trying herding and of course, do tons of hiking with his FurDad who has been hoping for a buddy to team up with him. Hunter loves hanging with men so it’s a match made in heaven for these two plus a life where he will truly be understood and cherished.

HUNTER: A 4 year old Border Collie, Hunter is a curious boy with lots of interest in all the activity around him. He has an irrepressible joy about him, totally enthusiastic about everything! He's super sweet and really loves to play, play, play, and really enjoying learning how the frisbee game works.  He loves a good throw with his person and is content to hang as a best buddy, waiting for another fun time. Hunter is very friendly and wants to be with someone, sticking right by your side and loving to cuddle, too. He is fine with other dogs, more females than males, but could easily be happy as a solo dog. This handsome boy is very outgoing and active like most BC's his age but not overly intense. He is good with cats.  Hunter is about 40 pounds and was relinquished directly to GHF once he was no longer needed for breeding.

A lovely, sweet BC mix (in the middle) came across our desk as needing help from a NY vet hospital where she had been signed over when her owner had to leave the state. One of the GHF team went to meet BROOK and fell in love so this lovely girl now has a new life with two other GHF alums and she couldn’t be happier! Brook acts like she knows right where she belongs - with her new guardian and her dogs - it’s amazing!

We’ll see a lot of this wonderful girl on visits at the Farm!

The most wonderful boy, BIXBY, found exactly the right situation and people for him! He has now found his home after waiting 1 1/2 years for this very special day.  His new guardians love the breed, have a 24/7 commitment to his happiness and even have a pond now with his name on it! plus 30 acres for plenty of fun! Bixby happily headed out to his new life with a big smile on his face!  A huge thanks to Joy Moll, his foster Mom who made it possible for Bixby to share his good nature so fully with his new FurMom and FurDad!

BIXBY: A petite 6 year old Border Collie, Bixby is a love. He is so excited to say hello to everyone and eager to be involved with whomever is nearby. A major ball boy, he'd love to play endlessly with whatever is tossed his way, a classic energetic, athletic boy. Bixby is really sweet and enjoys as much attention as he can get and gives the love right back, very good natured. He loves to cuddle in your lap! He really aims to please and would love to be with his person as much as possible. Bixby has worries meeting men so will need a patient, experienced BC person to help make introductions work so he feels safe. Bixby is very smart and learns quickly so can overcome these trust issues. He is good with the other BCs and could have a friend or be a solo dog with someone who is active and understands his needs. Bixby loves to swim, just entertaining himself swimming around all over! He is about 35 pounds and not good with cats. He came to the Farm after living a few years in a pen outside when his guardian could not keep him so a relative stepped in to take him. Fortunately, she felt it was best for him to find a home where he would have more attention. He came from PA

BELLA had to leave us, after her bout with an aggressive cancerous process. This darling girl charmed everyone who met her, leaving us all at a loss with her passing. She clearly loved people and they loved her, equally the same.

BELLA: A gorgeous 10 year old, Bella is the name that describes this wonderful girl - she is a delightful bell of the ball! Happy to meet everyone with a tail wag and big hello, she makes friends instantly.  For Bella, people are her main focus along with some ball and frisbee play which she just loves.  Everything about Bella is the classic BC - brilliant, sweet, athletic and good natured - however Bella has a special need - she has anxiety when left alone.  She was adopted two years ago and returned due to her panic when left. She is doing beautifully at the Farm where someone can be with her all the time. However, the sad news is that Bella now has cancer. We removed a mammary mass upon her return and had hoped it it would not reoccur but it has, unfortunately.  Bella will remain at the Farm to keep her as comfortable as possible.

It is very common for female dogs to develop mammary tumors when spaying is done late in life. We see this happen all the time, some masses are benign, some not but almost all the older females need surgery to be sure.
