Beautiful
little Lizzie was preoccupied for her adoption photo but surely
showed her cuddly nature when she met her new guardians. She was also
pretty fascinated by her part-time BC friend, Pogo, who visits often so
these two will have plenty to do together. For Lizzie, her full-time life
will include tons of love in her new home and even a beach house and Florida
home so she's one lucky girl who will be busily meeting lots of people and
playing til her heart is content. She now lives in NJ.
LIZZIE:
A petite 7 month old Border Collie, little Lizzie is a gem. She is all
about a big hello and a big run for fun! She loves to play and learn and
try new things. She's very attentive to her person, eager to learn
and never far from where you are going. She's one very happy girl, loving
dogs and toys just about the same. Lizzie is not as intense as some BC's,
a more easy going, people oriented girl. SHe is very affectionate
and good natured, a fabulous little girl. Lizzie is about 25 pounds
and is good with cats. She was a stray in PA, along with
Gracie, who came in together.

SERA
found the perfect life where she'll be loved for who she is, a bit shy and
sweet AND she'll get to do what she loves to do - herd! Sera will enjoy
plenty of herding experiences with her FurDad who really wanted a BC who
would learn herding with him. She has two canine friends, one from the
farm (not in the picture) so she'll have plenty to herd at home besides
the woolies! Sera now lives in MA and we bet she'll be the star in her
herding endeavors.
SERA: A
4 year old Border Collie, Sera is a lovely, sweetheart, a real cuddler.
She is very people oriented and loves to be connected with her person.
She also enjoys life in her foster home, happy and content to cuddle
up inside. She is quite a herder and clearly wants to handle the
movement of other dogs or sheep, in perfect position. Sera could
potentially work sheep but will need formal training. She could, however,
easily enjoy life as a companion, hanging with canine friends plus
she loves toys now and is really enjoying play time. She
is about 35 pounds and is OK with cats dog savvy cats. Sera
came from TN with the dogs confiscated from a breeder. |

STAN
found the perfect life where he would be understood as the smart,
talented, working boy he is...he kept a sharp eye on the other dogs at
that Farm as he met his new people, showing them that he would keep alert,
on duty at their home, too. Stan will enjoy his own sheep and cows in his
new life plus the farm 'walk' with his new guardian who oversees how life
at the Farm unfolds, which is exactly what Stan will love. He'll accompany
him each day for a look at the property, keeping things in check. Stan
will love that job where he's the man to count on and we know that his
new people will find that Stan's brilliance is obvious. Stan found
our favorite adopters who once had a beloved GHF alum who presided over
her people and property just as Stan now will. We were really touched that
Stan, our special beloved rescue, ended up stepping into the footsteps of
another GHF alum who we absolutely adored. We are certain that Stan will
win the hearts of everyone he meets, just as Samantha did. He now lives in
MA.
STAN:
An 8 year old Border Collie, Stan is one of the sweetest, most gentle
Border Collies we've ever had in rescue. He loves to be with you and
enjoys going anywhere you go. He's quite the cuddler and happy to enjoy
many belly rubs. He is smart and focused and loves his new life with
toys, always carrying something around in his mouth as he heads out the
door to herd the other dogs. Stan has quite the eye to herd and also
now can see beautifully. (His eye condition was treated when he came into
rescue) He is smart as a whip and one wonderful, good natured,
quintessential Border Collie, calm and focused. Stan
enjoys being with his daughter, Kellie, but could easily love life as the
only dog. He would love being a constant companion to his person.
Recently, living on a chain, basically
unable to see, Stan THANKFULLY found a new life when the Animal Control
Officer contacted us asking for help. One of our colleagues kindly got
involved and helped get Stan to us. The GREAT news is that Stan's eye
condition - pannus - is totally treatable... it's a very common
condition in Border Collies. He is now on eye drops, which he'll need for
life. We are so thrilled with this great news. Stan is
good with cats and weighs about 40 pounds.

TILLIE found the
perfect life with another BC just like her who she loved instantly and a
new guardian who will give her plenty to enjoy - herding, agility, dock
diving and lots of acreage for play, play, play, Border Collie style!
She's got the ideal life for any young BC to blossom and so many avenues
to explore, we know we'll hear lots of great things ahead. Her official
registered name for agility is Glen Highland's Stole My Heart, and her
informal new name is Steal! She stole a lot of hearts soon as she hit
rescue so we agreed that this name suits her perfectly. She now lives in
Viriginia.
TILLIE: A 4 month old Border Collie,
Tillie is all Border Collie, already playing with toys and making sense of
the world, BC style. She is very focused, very curious, very smart and
bonds quickly. She is a sweetheart, eager to cuddle but also looking for
something to do! Soon as Tillie arrived at the Founder's home, she joined
in with 14 BC's racing and chasing across the fields, totally fearless and
totally into herding mode. She is very confident, good natured and
fearless, making her a wonderful candidate for sports. She will need
an active home, savvy with BC energy. She is about 20 pounds,
typical in size for her age and fine with cats.

MAC found a
wonderful new life on a 1000 acre farm where he'll have plenty to watch
and do, involved in all that goes on. But, for him, most importantly,
he'll get to play tons of ball and try agility, along with his new BC
buddy, Mako who is like his mental twin, both totally focused boys. Mac's
new guardians were charmed by his friendly nature and quickly understood
his needs. They met lots of other dogs but landed on Mac as the perfect
fit for them and Mac agreed! He now lives in Massachusetts.
MAC: A 2 1/2 year old Border Collie
with ABCA papers, Mac is all about the ball, with a super focus ready to
get any catch. He's a sweet guy, too, happy to be with his person and very
responsive to anyone who will play with him or spend time with him. He is
a sensitive guy who bonds quickly and enjoys being your companion. Mac is
fine with other dogs but can be timid so does best with one other dog
rather than a large group. He'll then play with his BC friend when the
ball is not in play. He's about 50 pounds and trained on the Invisible
Fence. He is great with cats. Mac lived in one home since a pup as a
family dog but would be best in an adult home. He was relinquished
to the farm from his PA guardian.

RUBIE found the
perfect life where she'll have a BC friend, Gin, who loves the ball like
she does and can play endlessly but even more, she'll have a job. Rubie
will be chasing geese! On her first visit with geese, she was very
interested and will no doubt, shine as she switches from ball 'work' to
chasing and herding...Rubie is one intense girl so this suits her just
fine. No matter how many people met Rubie over the last few weeks, they
all loved her but felt she was just too much until today, when her new
guardian saw her and burst out laughing - "she's wonderful! she's got
a lot on her mind and will be fabulous!" Clearly, Rubie found her
person and her new life! She now lives in NY and will be a very happy,
busy Border Collie. Special thanks to
Mary Liebau who masterminded this match.
RUBIE: A
3 year old Border Collie, Rubie is a non-stop ball maniac. She is
intensely interested in play which is her 'work'. Rubie is fun,
sweet and eager to be in the middle of everything and very responsive to
whatever is asked of her. She needs an active guardian to understand
her mentally, physically and emotionally, ideally involved in canine
sports. She would love flyball. Rubie bonds very quickly to her
person and loves everyone she meets. Rubie is a sweet girl with a great
mind. Rubie is good with cats. She was in
a MD shelter.

BEBEE & SHELBIE
found their forever home where they'll have a blast with lots of acreage
to run and play and chase and most importantly, a wonderful guardian who
really understands them. She's had Border Collies for 20 years and soon as
she saw these two on the site, she knew they would fit perfectly in her
life. And, when they met her, they agreed. This great pair were thrilled
to hop in her car and head home to New Hampshire to start a great life as
her constant companion! They'll have two canine friends, too, a 17 year
old Border Collie! and a wonderful Dachshund who they met when she visited
today. Diva gave her vote of approval too!
SHELBIE
& BEBEE:
Shelbie, age 4 and Bebee, age 5 have a great relationship of playing with
frisbee and ball as well as cuddling with their people. They love everyone
and are so good natured, that they are just a delight to be around. They
are both brilliant, energetic, athletic dogs who loves many activities and
will retrieve most anything you throw like a tennis ball, frisbee or even
a soccer ball! They both love trail walks and have great recall.
Shelbie loves affection from everyone and will sit at your feet while you
scratch behind her ears, or lay down and present her belly to anyone who
will rub it for her. She loves the water and is an above average swimmer
and can jump six to eight feet out over the water when running to retrieve
a thrown toy.Bebee loves people and is happy to say hello to everyone and
anyone. She's very smart and outgoing and loves to investigate all
that is around her. She is curious and will check out new areas
thoroughly as she enters them. She likes to swim and when she does,
she enters the water daintily to retrieve a thrown toy, sometimes keeping
her back completely dry. She loves attention and will cuddle up to
you and give you kisses as you pet her or scratch behind her ears. She
and her friend, Bebee, play endlessly together and will be placed
together. Both girls are about 40 pounds and OK with dog savvy cats. Shelbie & Bebee came from CT due to a job change that
brings foster children into the home. |

MAX found the
perfect home for him where his guardians love to play ball as much as he
does! He also got to learn frisbee in their first meeting and he is a
natural and loved it! Max charmed them with his great nature and fun
loving spirit, ready to play all the time. He'll enjoy lots of hikes and
lots of love, even going to work with his new FurDad. He lives not far
from the Farm and we'll happily hear about his antics for years ahead.
MAX: A 4 year old Border Collie, Max is
an amazing athlete, all about the ball! He's fast, eager to retrieve and
ready to run, run, run. He is smart and focused and a classic BC, bonding
instantly to the person who connects him to what he loves - the ball. He
is also a sweet guy, happy to join in activities around him. He is fine
with other dogs but would clearly be happiest with a human partner who is
active and ready to 'work' - play! Max is the type of Border Collie who
wants to accompany someone in their day, hiking, playing ball and enjoying
life as their companion. He is a wonderful dog. He is fine with cats and
about 40 pounds. He was relinquished to the Farm due to no time for
his needs and the three small dachshunds were overwhelmed by his energy.
He lived in one home since a pup.

FABLE
& ARTIE will now be friends for life! They met at the Farm and
clicked instantly, playing and racing and chasing in the same style and
clearly, best buds. Luckily, just the right guardians came looking for a
pair of BC's and felt these two would fit their lives perfectly. They
overnighted in the nearby Inn and both Fable and Artie clearly made
themselves at home, happy as could be, content with each other and them.
They will have a wonderful life on 20 acres with lots to do and explore
and be the constant companion to their new guardians and grandkids when
they visit. They now live in Mass. We're just thrilled for them both
because they clearly have a love affair going with each other and now have
a family that loves them both.
FABLE: A 4 year old Border Collie,
Fable absolutely loves other dogs. She is in the instigator in playing and
will get into a great chase game with whomever is up for a run. She is
super sweet and friendly with everyone, happily engaging in
catch-me-if-you-can chase games with people, too. She's a very funny girl
with quite a great nature. Fable is sensitive and loves to know where she
fits, adapting to people well and wanting to belong. She is indifferent to
cats. Fable is about 40 pounds. She was in one home since a pup,
given up by PA guardians, due to financial reasons.
|

ARTIE: A 6 1/2 year old Border Collie
mix, Artie is all about people - he loves his person and is happy to go
wherever you go. He is really good natured with everyone, much like a
therapy dog in his approach and friendliness. Artie also loves to run,
run, run...he gets the zoomies and races around like crazy but then
happily lays content watching whatever is going on outside. Artie is great
with other dogs and happiest with a canine friend side by side, exploring.
He is about 40 pounds and not yet tested on cats. Artie lived in one
home since a pup but his guardians work schedule changed to 10 hour days
away and Artie did not do well. He's lived in the NYC area all his
life and absolutely fine with chaos and loud sounds. Artie can scale a
high fence if he wants to leave but only does that when he's bored and
left alone. |

Little
LEAI is about to have a big life doing lots of agility and hanging
with her new FurMom who fell in love online and then again, when she met
her. She was looking for a petite little fireball and that's what she got.
As she watched Leia jump all over the adoption office, in every direction,
including play bowing to herself in the full length mirror, she chuckled,
knowing that this was the little girl she had hoped to find. Leia clearly
claimed her new guardian once she settled down next to her with her own
vote of approval! Leia will love her new life in New England and will do
some international traveling too!
LEIA: A 2 1/2 month old Border Collie
(possibly mix), little Leia is full of energy, loves to jump up
onto and over anything around, showing her agile nature already. She
springs up and onto the couch like she's a bird. She is clearly fearless
about new things and with encouragement, learns super fast. She is also so
attentive to her person and a real cuddly girl and yet so curious to
explore, a great combination. . She is going to be happiest with an active
life full of challenges. Leia is the runt of the litter so looks like
she's going to be a tiny girl. She's about 8 pounds now.

JUNO
found the perfect life for him, with two other lively canine friends who
clicked perfectly with him! They were quite a trio the minute they met,
racing around, wrestling and chasing, a great sight to see. Juno
will have even more fun since his guardians love agility and his new
FurDad wanted a fast, agile, fun-loving BC to add to his group and knew
Juno was it! Juno certainly looked like he belonged with them right away
and happily headed off to his new life in PA.
JUNNO:
11 month old Border Collie, Junno is brilliant. He loves to learn, pays
attention to everything and is smart as they come. He's also agile, fast
and focused, a wonderful sport candidate. Junno has everything in one
package, a cuddler too. He loves to play with other Border Collies and
easily fits in wherever he goes. Juno is super fast and can create chase
games with another BC that are amazing to watch. He is really good natured
and easy going though an active young BC, like usual. He was
living in a situation not suited to him. He is best with dog savvy
cats and about 35 pounds.

DOLLY
found her new life with guardians who had actually seen her listing at the
shelter and wanted to meet her then so when they found out she was at the
Farm, they headed up to see her. She joined in with her new canine friend,
Reece, with some serious chase games as they enjoyed the fields while her
new guardians laughed, happy to see both dogs engaged in the play they
were hoping for. Dolly now lives in PA where she'll have plenty of parks
for lots of chase games, the rest of her life!
DOLLY: A petite 5 year old Border
Collie mix, Dolly is a character. She has a ton of personality, knows what
she likes and lets you know. She is funny and very involved with
everything going on around her, quite observant and opinionated! Dolly is
clearly super smart and would need someone who understands the smart
nature she has as well as her sweet nature. We chuckle that Dolly would
run the Farm if she could! She is great with other dogs though can be a
bit bossy, depending on the dog but she doesn't push it too far. She loves
attention and affection but also likes to patrol the Farm yard to make
sure things are in order. Dolly is about 35 pounds and not yet tested on
cats. She'd be fine as a solo dog or with a canine friend though she
doesn't play with them, she'd rather join her person. She came from
a NY shelter where she had been abandoned.

Miss
Mollie has found her home, an unusual route to take but her journey
led her right where she needed to be. The parents of the vet student who
fostered Mollie spent time getting to know her as the family got together
during the past months. And, no surprise to most of us, Mollie grabbed
their hearts and wouldn't let go. As her new guardians said, 'if they
couldn't keep her, the family was headed across the Canadian
border'...they just couldn't imagine letting her go. So, Mollie officially
joins GHF alum, Summit and another canine friend and a whole family who
are thrilled she's there to stay! We are incredibly happy for Mollie and
know that the love she has in her life ahead will keep her strong, no
matter what challenges she faces. A big thank you again to Jennifer and
Adrian who fostered her for a great recovery.
And, a huge thanks to all of you who
sent money to help with her care. We were incredibly touched by the
kindness of everyone who wanted to help Mollie, just as we did. The costs
for her intensive care needs were the highest ever encountered yet there
was never any way we could turn away from Mollie's needs. And, today, we
know that deep caring will continue for this very special Border Collie.
MOLLIE: A 9 month old Border Collie,
Mollie is brilliant. She listens attentively and instantly, thinking
through everything around her and then deciding what she will do. You can
see her mind problem solving and watch her find her own answers carefully
with all the style of a mature BC though she is a pup. Mollie will thrive
with someone who really wants to challenge her mentally and provides her
an opportunity to work. She is fairly petite, fast and focused and eager
to play with toys, even entertaining herself. She is also non-stop energy,
typical of this age and will only go to a home that is BC savvy and has an
outlet for her mind and body. Mollie will give you her heart though, she
is quite affectionate and loves everyone she meets instantly. She is now
learning about other Border Collies and gaining confidence with the dogs
around that think and act just like she does. She came from a home with a
sedate older dog so all the dogs are new to her. She has a wonderful
temperament and could excel in a close relationship with a person. Mollie
is from a breeder in VA bought by the son of a woman who then inherited
Mollie when he was deployed. Though she loved her dearly, she
could not meet her energy needs. Mollie needs a real job, like all young
high-drive Border Collies or she'll make her own. Mollie is 35 pounds and
good with cats.

Certain
dogs have angels on their shoulders...sometimes that is what gets them
here to begin with; other times that is what saves their lives. Jakey
found a caring person for the rest of his life, an amazing act of love and
kindness to a dog who really had a rough start and is not one who can
be trusted to be rehomed. His grabbing/biting episodes with strangers,
guarding his territory have meant he really could not be adopted from
the Farm. A behaviorist was recently hired to evaluate him while in foster
care in VT and concluded he was not trustworthy for any 'normal' adopter
due to his history, recent episodes and her observations of him. Lucky for
Jakey, very lucky for Jakey, he won a spot in a great home with a very
good, solid dog person who will keep him safe.
JAKEY:
A 2 1/2 yr old Border Collie mix, Jakey is an amazing athlete - he jumps all
four feet right off the ground at least two feet. He is super agile, super
fast and really eager to learn and execute whatever you ask him to do.
Jakey is a very obedient and very very smart, offering behaviors quickly,
hoping for a treat and approval and to try something more challenging.
Jakey has been exposed to agility equipment and is fearless,
eager to do any obstacle. He is a strong runner, loves toys of any kind
and can cut and angle to retrieve a toy like any classic high drive border
collie. Jakey is great with people and loves affection though he can be
insecure at first, especially with men. He would do best with a woman as
his main caretaker. Jakey is fine with other dogs but would be
happiest as a solo dog or with a submissive female. He is about 40
pounds and Ok with dog savvy cats. He was surrendered to the
Farm from PA because the guardian's other older dog was beating him up.
Jakey came from a PA breeder originally.

KUDOS to FLASHY and his new guardian, a
perfect match! Flash absolutely loved his new person and headed out to hop
in the car without ever looking back! He just loves men and was thrilled
to have his own guy who really understands him - lots of car rides, ATV
rides, hiking and being his constant companion - absolutely perfect for
him! We're really so happy for this little dog to land again and know this
time, it's forever! The great news about Flashy is that he's taking all
the love from everyone who has been cheering him on! He now lives in New
Hampshire and his new guardian is thrilled to have a canine buddy!
FLASHY- A 5 year old Border Collie,
Flashy is a wonderful companion, good natured and eager to be with people.
He loves being in the middle of the action. A really good guy, he wants to
connect with someone quickly. Flashy is great with other dogs and enjoys
Border Collie games, happy to entertain himself. He is about 40 pounds and
trained on the invisible fence. If living with cats, they would need to be
dog savvy. Flashy was adopted from the Farm in January 2008 but due to the
birth of a baby, he is back in rescue. Flashy originally used to
herd geese at his home property but was relinquished to the farm
from NJ due to a move.

SARA's photo from 2005!

|
Sara's Angel
Wendy
Donoghue
Bonnie & John Yurga " In celebration of Oscar's
7th Anniversary"
Sara
went into emergency care two days ago with problems that did not resolve.
We made the decision to let her go Monday 5/31/10. My strong
connection with her tells me she will reunite with her person, the man she
met years ago at the Farm. George and Sara are so incredibly bonded, they
are sure to be together again. He is in a nursing home, just celebrating
his 89th birthday.
Thank you Pat and Tim and the
Toomey family for providing the love-nest for Sara.
SARA:
A petite 11 year old Border Collie mix, Sara is a sweet, loving girl with
a mind of her own...she loves the great outdoors and enjoys exploring so
has to have a life with mother earth under her feet, even at 11! She is
totally wonderful with people and great with other dogs, happily hanging
with anyone and everyone, just enjoying life. Sara is good with cats and
still has her petite figure though a bit thicker than years ago (like all
of us!) She came to us originally at age 6 having been abandoned at
a shelter and now finds herself looking for a home again since her
guardian became ill. She was well loved for the last 5 years but has some
needs as a senior dog now. Sara is a wonderful spirit, full of spunk and love.
Sara
is being fostered in NJ

DESSIE:
A 2 1/2 year old Border Collie, Dessie is a sweet, gentle girl who is
learning how to have fun! She and Jodi, came from the same breeder
who dumped them at a PA shelter so this is her first time to
enjoy the freedom to play. Dessie is very shy at first but so wants to be
next to you, that she inches up carefully to your side for belly rubs and
attention. Loud voices will scare her away so she'll need a patient home
that understands it will take awhile for her to be a 'normal' run up to
everyone kind of BC. When you're happy and at ease, so is she but it
takes time for Dessie to feel safe. She will only be placed in a hard
fence situation since she is so skittish. And, she needs a home
without young children that is quiet and preferably has a canine friend, a
male BC. Dessie is a really special sweet, good natured girl and she's
great with other Border Collies but she has not had the social contact
with people to help her feel safe right away. She will only be
placed with a hard fence and with someone who is very patient to help her
gain confidence, slowly. She is about 35 pounds and good with cats. Dessie
is being fostered in NY
|
DESSI
& ZELA will have a great life together with two guardians who love
the breed and have plenty of time to devote to these two plus their elder
canine friend, Katie, also loves pups and other dogs. This great trio will
enjoy walks and play in their yard and be the center of attention. We're
excited for Dessi who used to be a mom and took to Zela right away. And
for Zela, who needs a doggie friend and guide to help her but she can also
help Dessi, cause Zela's is one confident, happy go lucky girl balancing
Dessi's shyness. It's a great pair to grow together! They now live in
upstate NY.
ZELA:
A
6-7 week old Border Collie (possibly mix), Zela is mixing in with a
few adult dogs so she has plenty of canine companionship and learning.
She is a real spitfire, on a mission to see the world. She comes
instantly when called but also loves to explore on her own, running full
speed into tall grass and then nose first into the dirt and flowers. She's
a fearless little pup and loves to run with the big dogs and she's
also learning about toys and loves to tug. Zela loves everyone but
certainly has a mind of her own, too. She is a smart little pup for
sure.
She
is 5 pounds, just a wee little thing unaware of what could have gone
wrong; who could have bought her; or how life could have been less than
ideal... we are so pleased she is at the Farm and we will find just the
right place for her. We're going to take applications for Zela now but
will keep her in rescue for another week, depending on how she is
progressing. Only 12 inches long, she's a sweet, adorable, little
girl. She came to the Farm from PA. |

AGGIE
found the best Border Collie home she could imagine with two GHF alums and
guardians who adore the breed and know exactly what she will need to
blossom and thrive. Aggie will have plenty to do with outdoor fun,
herding and playing BC games. Her guardians have now adopted four
dogs from the Farm, and every one, has a wonderful, loving,
active life! Aggie now lives in Ct.
AGGIE: A 4 month old Border Collie,
Aggie is all action. Once she's comfortable, she loves to race, cut, angle
and herd and she's one fast little girl when she turns it on. Aggie is
very smart, observant and makes sense of things around her quickly,
clearly a thinker. SHe really loves people and always checks back in with
her person for guidance. She is a classic BC and will only go to a home
who understands the breed and has another BC. Aggie is about 25 pounds and
good with cats. She was too much for her previous guardian who had 5
kids and felt Aggie needed something different.

DEMPSEY: A 2 year old Border Collie,
Dempsey is a delight - a sweet, energetic, fun-loving guy. He really loves
to play with other dogs and loves people equally. Dempsey is very smart
and very agile, able to hop up on top of crate in a second. He's a
gorgeous guy when he runs and boy does he love to run. Dempsey has lots
of energy but not overly intense though definitely would be happiest with
another canine friend or doing sports with his person. Quite the cuddler,
Dempsey keeps us all chuckling with his personality. He was
previously in a home where the German Shepherd was attacking him so he
came into rescue. He's a little camera shy and always on the
move. |
PERRI
& DEMPSEY became fast friends at the Farm when we mixed them
together - it was instant love! They wrestled and chased and rolled and
raced, non-stop, absolutely loving their canine connection. We are so
thrilled they'll be able to stay together forever now and enjoy a
closeness that we love to see with dogs. Their new guardians loved what
they saw too and knew they had to stay together and since they had wanted
a pair, this was the duo to take home for sure! Perri & Dempsey will
have quite a life living on 230 acres that they now call home sweet home
plus they have a summer lake cottage to enjoy, too. These two deserved the
best and now they've got it!
PERRIE: An 8 month old Border Collie
mix, Perrie is a love-bug, a really sweet girl who loves to cuddle and
loves affection. She's friendly with people though a little timid with men
at first. She is smart and eager to know what to do, food motivated and
wanting to learn. She is a great player with other dogs and very eager to
wrestle and chase and roll. She's also loves to run like the wind. Perrie
is about 35 pounds and good with cats. She came to the farm
from a PA shelter where she had been picked up as a stray.

BRANDON
found the life he so eagerly wanted - he'll get to do agility with his new
guardian learning how to put his mind, body and emotions all together
focused on a job. This sweet guy won her heart as he focused on her
intently asking ' what do you want?', happy to connect and trying to sort
out how to accomplish the task being asked of him. We are certain this
brilliant boy will excel in the sports world and he surely loved his new
Border Collie friend, Ozzie, a GHF alum. He happily headed out to his new
life, excited to see what's ahead. Brandon now lives in CT.
BRANDEN: A 1 year old Border Collie,
Branden is a classic young BC, active, focused and ready to go! He's fast
and loves to run and play with other BC's, happy as can be with all the
action. Branden is very focused on his person and he is eager to learn,
super responsive and very smart. Branden is great with other dogs and will
be happiest with another BC to make up herding games. He likes toys and
could easily excel in sports and is a very good natured guy, adapting to
new situations easily. Branden is about 40 pounds and best with dog savvy
cats since he will chase them. He lived in one home since a pup but
his previous guardian could not meet his energy needs. He is from
NY.

KELIE
charmed her guardians when she played her inventive ball spin game,
enjoying herself immensely, like a puppy. Then, she shared her sweet
nature and gentle ways with them and they were sure she would fit in their
lives perfectly. She'll be their constant companion, enjoying all their
love and attention. We're sure Kelie will blossom beautifully since her
new life is all about her! And, she'll always have a cozy, warm home to
call her own! She now lives in NY.
KELIE:
A petite 3 year old Border Collie, Kelie is all about love and cuddles.
She will happily hop into your lap for endless affection. She is a gentle
girl who gets along with other dogs but seems to thrive with her person
the most. She is smart and attentive but not overly intense. She
loves to bat her ball around, making up games as she discovers how much
fun toys really can be! Kelie is new to toy experiences since
she was chained outside at a farm (chained not far from Stan, her Dad
recently adopted) and she was also allowed to run loose around the Farm.
She never left, instead she considered the Farm 'her job', though it
wasn't an ideal life. The day we met Kelie, it was subzero weather and her
5 foot chain was pulled across packed down snow and there was no water,
only food thrown on the snow. No matter the circumstances, she loves
everyone, a lovely classic BC who is an easy going, good natured
companion! She is good with cats and about 35 lbs.

DAISY
was at the Farm at exactly the right moment to find her forever home. Her
new guardians wanted a mature companion for their BC, Boone, and Miss
Daisy fit perfectly. The two of them laid on the grass keeping an eye on
all the action, like a married couple, happy to hang together to watch the
world go by. A very cute pair, Daisy happily hopped into the car to head
off to upstate NY for her new life. She'll get plenty of walks and hiking,
enjoying her new property and happily hang on the couch for cuddles.
DAISY: A 7 year old Border Collie,
Daisy found her way to the Farm and immediately made herself right at
home. She rolled on the ground, said hello to all the dogs and then
followed the caretaker around as if she belonged here. She's sweet as can
be, easy going and fun but little did she know that finding a home, would
be easy. One of our former adopters recently lost her beloved GHF BC and
soon as Daisy arrived, we knew she could be the perfect fit. So, Daisy set
off in style with one of our intake team to meet her new guardian. We'll
update the news shortly. Daisy surely has an angel on her shoulder because
we got to her hours before she was about to be abandoned at a PA shelter
due to a move to California.

MINDIE
found the perfect life with wonderful guardians and another canine friend!
They came to the Canine Country Getaway Camp for a week, knowing they
wanted to meet dogs and adopt a friend but soon as they saw Mindie in
action, she was the one! She showed off all her fiesty, fun-loving nature,
racing around the fields at camp, meeting all the other dogs and then
staying right by their side, as if she was clear exactly what was up.
We're sure she knew they wanted her to live with them cause after two
nights in the RV, she barely said hello to the rescue caretakers, instead
happy to hang with her new people! We were thrilled to meet her guardians
and see Mindie be the life of the party! She now lives in NJ.
A very special thanks to Ellen and Andy Simcik who
kindly paid for Mindie's hydrotherapy sessions to get her mobility back
after 6 years of sitting in a barn night and day, all alone. We're pretty
sure Miss Mindie is making up for lost time and loving her new life!
MINDIE:
A 10 year old Border Collie, Mindie is a loving, sweet and incredibly good
natured girl. She is such a character, absolutely loving life. She
is great with every human she meets and happy to be the center of
attention, too. Mindie is smart and eager to be with people and gets
along famously with other dogs, too. As a female BC, she can be the boss,
wanting to control the action so probably is best suited to hang with the
boys. She loves toys of any kind and absolutely loves playing tug.
She spent the past 6 years left in a crate in a barn fed by a
neighbor. The night she was rescued, she had frozen water and a layer of
ice on her thin bed of hay. It was truly believed she would not have
survived. We are very happy that Mindie made it to a safe and loving
situation. She came from PA. Mindie
clearly thinks life is a blast now and is enjoying it fully! She would be
a superb friend and family member. She is best with dog savvy cats.

On
Thur 6/10/10, we said good-bye to Katey, a sweet, wonderful character full
of spunk and charm though stuck in a body that wasn't cooperating too
well. Her arthritic condition made it hard to move quickly... her eyesight
meant sometimes she missed things right in front of her... her senior
deafness left her a beat behind at times and her other health
complications meant she was working extra hard to keep up in life.
However, Miss Katey had fun! She charged the dogs at the Farm to let them
know she was boss and even chased the little dogs in her foster home to
deliver the same message. Watching them from door entrances was her specialty,
giving that glance of intent to let them know 'she was the boss' though
her body couldn't quite keep up with her mind to turn her thoughts into
fast action, anymore.
Our dearest Miss Katey passed on Thursday
night when it was apparent that the masses in her body were winning the
battle over good health. Linda, her fosterer and Lillie, spent time by
Katey's side, giving her a final touch of love and deep caring so she
could be sent on her way. As Linda said, 'it looks like Katey is smiling,
as if she knows what is going on and is ready'. May angels fly you far and
wide Katey as you find the peace of your next steps, beyond what we
all will understand who are left here on earth without you. Thank you for
gracing us with those big brown eyes and big heartfelt sweetness that is
only you. |
|
Though you strayed in life and landed
alone in a shelter, we held you in our hearts through the last nine months
and will continue to do so, as if you were always ours. A very special
gratitude to Linda Wood, who opened her home and heart for hospice care
for Katey. And, to the team at the Farm: Karen, Kay, Cat and Courtney, who
loved Katey through her worst health to the best we could offer.
Fly on sweet Katey. |
