COOKIE was waiting for someone and that someone arrived! One of our dearest Friends of the Farm and adopters, came to lend a hand and instead found herself, squarely in love with this special boy. The two of them were kindred spirits as if a bit of destiny was at work and within short order, he landed in her home and is doing beautifully! He is thrilled being the solo dog and she is thrilled having a beloved BC back in her life. We are so happy for both of them and know we’ll get to see him next time she visits! He now lives in NY.

COOKIE: An 11 year old Border Collie, Cookie is a delightful guy, so happy to be around people and play with his ball. He is classic in every way…outgoing, friendly and a little sensitive, too…just the way Border Collies can be when they are intuitive and relationship oriented. Cookie fits in easily with other Border Collies and is used to living with a strong female though happily adjusts to whichever dogs are around. He is quite the cuddler and charmer, winning everyone’s interest instantly. Every person who helped transport Cookie back to GHF as well as our vet, just adored him. Cookie was at GHF in 2011 and found a loving home in New Hampshire for many years, but with his guardian’s move to an urban area in Kansas, she felt it was unfair for him to remain with her. We are very happy to help Cookie with his next step in life and know he will share his heart fully and be a very special friend to someone. He is about 40 pounds and good with cats.

Sweet FAITH has found a life with a former GHF adopter who has a super sweet boy from us who allows Faith to be herself without pressure and enjoys having another canine pal at home. Her new FurDad was smitten from the minute he met her, absolutely drawn to her and helping her believe life could be safe and good, giving her all that she needs to blossom. We are so happy for Faith to have a loving home. She’ll be doing some hikes near her property once she is secure in this new life and for now, has a big yard and is learning all about toy play. Most importantly, she is feeling secure in a quiet life suited perfectly to her, with tons of love.

FAITH: SPECIAL HOME REQUIRED A petite 3 year old Border Collie, Faith is a special girl with quite a story of survival. We’re happy to report that since her arrival in early April, literally on death’s door, Faith is now ready to start a new life. She has gone from completely malnourished to a gorgeous girl right at the perfect weight of 35 pounds. She has joined in herding games at GHF, blossoming into the dog she is meant to be. Faith is focused and curious about everything in life now. Her transformation has been miraculous - loving care; appropriate medical help; time and healing - now the next step - finding the person who will treasure her. All of her angel support made a world of difference for this sweet girl!  Faith is a soft, sensitive dog with people and will gently nudge your hand for attention or wag a tight tail a tiny bit, hoping it’s ok to say hello. We are pretty certain her previous life was a mixed bag of less than ideal treatment. She goes into worry mode if people are too loud and she ducks away when pressured too quickly to do anything. Faith needs a patient, calm life with softer people who help her rebuild a sense of trust that life is good. Her gentle nature is so obvious upon meeting her and yet, that deep worry is just under the surface so finding just the right fit is critical for her future healing and growth.  With other Border Collies, Faith is a little herding ‘monster’, grabbing heels and controlling all the action so we’d like to have one male pal for her who is relaxed and easy going. She’s clearly used to having a dog friend but being a female, she can be a strong willed herding controller! She has minimal interest in toys right now but is showing promise, again with time. She is fine with cats. This loving girl is blossoming beautifully!

Little ODIN found exactly the right spot for his final move, after a few that were not quite the right place. He’s now living with a former GHF adopter who is a dear Friend of the Farm with four GHF alums! We knew as soon as he came in that once she saw him, it would be home sweet home cause she loves the little dogs. Well, turns out Odin just slid into the pack even playing with the littlest guy of the group - it was adorable! We’ll get to hear about Odin, now known as Robbie, as life goes on for him, living in the country, not too far from the Farm.

ODIN: A very petite 2 year old Border Collie, likely mix, Odin is a sweet boy with a super friendly nature. At only 24 pounds, he’s a wee boy but has a big presence - he loves playing with dogs and loves cuddling with people. We are happy that he has a chance to be fostered by one of our dear Friends of the Farm, with hopes that he will stay right there with her fun pack, mostly all from GHF! Thanks to the help of a dog lover, Odin made it to GHF. We’ll update his story soon.

Happy Birthday to MIA - today is the day she turns 4 AND starts her new life! She’s off to Maine with new canine pal, Indy and her FurMom who adores her. They all overnighted together, cuddling and playing and just hanging out, enjoying the start of a great life together. We’re so happy for this match which instantly felt like a reunion of sorts, comfortable with ease!

MIA: A 4 year old Border Collie mix, Mia is a loving girl with the person she knows and trusts, even making quite the squeal of happiness - a high-pitched hello that’s adorable and full of joy - just saying I love you! She is a sensitive girl so once she feels secure, all that love comes pouring out but until then, she needs someone patient to help her with new people. She can be very worried with strangers and uncomfortable if overwhelmed so will do best with a savvy guardian who knows how to shape her confidence. She’s had to meet a lot of new people at GHF and is getting more comfortable day by day but clearly, she’s used to happily being in a home and can’t wait for that life again. She lived with other dogs but seems more content as as solo dog, really bonded to her person. The right submissive and confident male dog could be great to make Mia more comfortable with new settings. Mia is about 40 pounds and best with dog savvy cats since she’s prone to chase, though not hurt them. She was relinquished to GHF when her PA guardians felt she would be happiest without the pack of dogs in their home. She requires a fenced yard.

LACIE, age 14 is home! Senior dogs often need to come to GHF due to death of a guardian or life change or in some cases, an inability to care for the dog with their illnesses. That’s the case with 14 year old LACIE. A sweet girl, living in one home since a pup, found herself in need of a new life for the remaining years. Her guardian just felt burdened by her growing needs and rather than put her down, considered rescue. We were happy to help and lucky for Lacie, the GHF adopters we asked to go meet her, were quite smitten. She easily passed her temperament evaluation and they agreed to hold her for a week before we organized a transport. While we handled her medical needs to be sure she was ready for adoption, Miss Lacie had other plans and just pulled at their heartstrings so..she is home!! This is her final home til the day she passes back to spirit and we know, knowing them so well, that Lacie will have a glorious abundance of love, good care and Border Collie fun! At 14, she moves a bit slower of course but she is totally in sync mentally and emotionally, bonded already. We are so appreciative they opened their homes to her. Lacie now lives in VA.

FARRIS found guardians who understand the quirks of Border Collies and even more importantly, understand that rescued BC’s often have special needs, like Farris. They came knowing he has handling issues and felt that after spending time with him, they were the ones to give him a chance a new life. Sweet as he can be, he showed his fun, playful side and also the sweetness in him so with careful, patient guidance, his new FurMom will work on helping him not fear being touched to clip his nails or comb him or check anything on his body. Having been chained his whole life, she understood this would take a long time to overcome. Being retired, she has the time to give and both of them have the love and understanding to offer him. Former GHF adopters, sweet shy Katie blossomed in their care (not happy about photos though!) and we are sure that Farris will do the same. He now lives in Ct.

FARRIS: SPECIAL HOME REQUIRED A 3 year old Border Collie, Farris is a gorgeous guy with a big personality that matches his size! He loves to play with toys, balls or frisbees, quite enthusiastic for a good game. He loves attention with anyone who comes to say hello and can be over excited at times to be in the spotlight. A super sweet, eager to please boy, he is all joy, joy, joy. The more attention, the better! Farris also has a worrisome side, when things go a bit too fast, he shuts down. Often it appears he is worrying that he is going to be wrong and suddenly wants to escape the pressure.  Farris will need positive training with treats and reassurance to really help him trust that the fun he’s having is something safe. Farris listens well to female BC’s who tell him about the rules of their space and seems compatible with male dogs, too but a smaller herding dog would be a bit overwhelmed by him. His history was not so good being abandoned 24/7 on a chain so he never wants to be left again, truly thrilled to have someone by his side. He is not good with cats and about 60 pounds. He was living an awful life in PA when a concerned dog lover stepped up to get him to a shelter and then he came to GHF. He requires a fenced yard.

Miss MAGGIE landed right where she went to live as a foster dog! We had a strong hunch that she and GHF alum, Pete, would be quite the pair and they certainly are - within hours, they were racing, chasing and wrestling like long lost pals - adorable to see! So, Maggie is there to stay. We’re so happy for her and her new guardians who can give her all she needs plus build her confidence. Pete is also happy to have a pal who plays as much as he does! Maggie now lives in NY.

MAGGIE: SPECIAL HOME REQUIRED  A 2 year old Border Collie, Maggie is not only a gorgeous girl, she is a sweet soul. She so wants attention but is so worried about the pressure of a simple look her way or touch of a hand she cannot trust. Clearly, Maggie has had a rough situation with respect to humans however a glimmer of trust is there, step by step. When we pair with a pal who loves people and has few fears, she just comes alive with more courage. Maggie really needs a calm, patient person to help grow her confidence without rushing her. We would also like to see her with a canine pal to make it easier on her. The best part right now is all the fun Maggie is having running, running, running…just as fast as she can speed around the field, in complete JOY! Maggie spent all but 5 months of her young life chained in a farmyard, doing nothing, with no one. So, life is now moving in the right direction! We are celebrating every little step and applauding the courage of this sweet one but she will need just the right person for a new life. Maggie was dropped off at a NY shelter by someone who purchased her but realized she could not meet her needs. Thankfully, the shelter works with GHF and Maggie is now here. Whatever it takes, we’re on Maggie’s team!!! She is about 35 pounds and good with cats.  She requires a fenced yard.

Sweet, wonderful CARSEN found two guardians who are patient, kind and calm, giving him the chance to blossom without worry. They spent the night getting to know him and by morning, he was clearly happy, comfortable and ready for big time ball play as well as cuddling - it was so fulfilling to see him so content. His new FurMom and FurDad understand this will be a big transition for Carsen and are willing to take plenty of time to make it easy on him to enjoy home living and gain his confidence. Of course, they loved all his toy drive and he loved playing with them, too! Carsen hopped into the car and headed off to his new life in Massachusetts, now a true family member.

CARSEN: SPECIAL HOME REQUIRED A 4 year old Border Collie, Carsen is a focused ball boy! He just loves toss after toss after toss and he’s quite the athlete. He’s also unbelievable with a frisbee game and clearly shows his body/mind awareness, gorgeous to watch. Carsen is very happy with toy activities and also loves to cuddle with someone he knows, so loving and affectionate however he has some worries if pushed too fast to do a ’normal life’ activity. He will need a patient guardian who makes new things a positive, using treats and time, not rushing him through anything. Carsen is very sensitive and smart so responds well to having a person as his guide. New things like car rides, walks in town or big groups of people can surprise him since he's been isolated in his previous life left alone in a kennel. He’s bravely tackling whatever is asked of him and is it’s very touching to see him rely on the person with him, truly a loving dog. Carsen is extremely affectionate so clearly was someone’s dog though they sadly abandoned him for 2 years. Seems the previous guardian sold his home, leaving him in outside kennel in NJ, even though the new buyer didn’t want him. Thankfully, he’s made it to GHF. Carsen is quite an amazing BC, a big time cuddler and hugger, literally a body hug to say hello! He will surely blossom with someone patient in a calmer setting. He is about 40 pounds and good with cats. He will only be placed in a fenced yard and with BC savvy adopters

Rescue presents so many challenges with helping dogs find their way and then some days are just the moments that make your heart soar - today is Haley’s ‘gotcha day’ - a long two years in the making. Not because Haley is hard, but because Haley is so so so VERY smart and so focused on car chasing and doing her own thing, that it took us that long to turn that brilliant head of hers into thinking we might matter, too. Well, today, her person arrived to take her home and boy SHE matters and Haley showed that to us. Soon as they met a few weeks ago, Haley was ready to head out that door but patiently, they both had to wait a bit due to scheduling. But, hey after two years, what’s a couple weeks. So now, off they have gone for a journey of a lifetime. We know this gal Haley really well and she’s going to live up to that fiery red-head but boy, with that huge heart of hers now turned to humans, this is a ride we’d all like to take with her, too. Every dog counts but Haley is something beyond the norm - the real BC deal and lucky for her new FurMom, she’s getting to live with her! We’ll miss our girl Haley…we’re now extended family, applauding from afar for a grand life that she so, so richly deserves. For every volunteer and every camper on tour, who met this special Border Collie, please wish her well cause it’s a BIG life ahead for this wonderful girl, even including SHEEP!

HALEY: A 4 year old Border Collie, Haley is a gorgeous girl with lots of energy to race and chase and play! She’s active like any BC this age and she wants something to DO so will need a BC savvy guardian who understands her needs. She loves people and bonds quickly, eager to be with her person, side by side for whatever activities can be done together. Haley is focused and smart and very observant, a delightfully confident girl. She keeps tabs on everything around, including cars so will need to live in a more rural setting, with a fenced yard where traffic is not in sight. She is a strong female so likely best as a solo dog. She is not good with cats and Haley is about 40 pounds. She came to GHF from a PA shelter, moved north after having puppies.

FINLEY found exactly the life he need, with GHF alum, Hayden, who loves frisbee just as much as Finley does and with guardians who really understand the brain power of the breed. They came to overnight with Finley and got a glimpse of his brilliance as he figured out how to open the bedroom closet doors! and of course, learned all kinds of things quickly as his FurDad began speaking various commands that his new pal, Hayden already knows. Finley was happy with the challenges and will get a chance to do agility as well as plenty of other mentally stimulating activities. His FurDad’s first GHF BC, Bud, was the top of the class in energy and smarts so Finley can easily step right into a great life with lots to do which he really needs!

FINLEY: A 1 year old Border Collie, Finley is all action, just the classic BC mind and body rolled into one dog - he is a real athlete and ball maniac!  Finely, in fact, has all the right qualities for someone who adores this breed   - he is fun, active and smart as a whip - and he’s sweet as can be, too.  A real cuddler and super friendly guy, he is a wonderful boy.  Finley plays with any toy at any time and absolutely loves to race and chase, making up BC games with other BC’s  - he really needs a friend as an outlet for his energy but best with a female BC, not male.  He is a typical high energy 1 year old so will only be placed with savvy BC guardians. Finley has quirks with motion and sound sensitivities and needs structure to keep him focused.  Finley is about 35 pounds and is good with dog savvy cats. He was relinquished directly to GHF by his NJ guardians who bought two brothers and discovered a common problem - siblings will fight - so had to make the very tough decision on who to rehome. Finley has a flexible, outgoing nature so clearly would do well with a change so he came to GHF.  He most certainly has done beautifully, open and easy going about it all! He requires a fenced yard.

We are so happy for BUD who has patiently been waiting for ten months for just the right people to find him and they did!!! He will now a wonderful home, rural without close traffic (yea!) on five fenced acres with a pond and a barn - sounds like Bud hit the jackpot for a great life of fun, BC style! Most importantly, his new family loved him instantly and he surely showed how he felt, too..smiling ear to ear! Have a blast Bud! You so deserve the perfect life just for you!!

BUD: A 3 1/2 year old Border Collie, Bud is a good-natured guy who loves his toys! He will thoroughly enjoy a great ball game or lots of squeaky toys, even entertaining himself. A real toy nut, his joy is contagious, clearly one happy boy! Bud is not as intense as many BC’s, and would be happy in a great fenced yard to call his own with someone who adores him. Quite the cuddler, too, he is very affectionate, loving to be on the couch by your side. Bud is fine with other dogs though really loves to have his own toys and not share so will be happiest as a solo dog at home. He did not have a fenced yard in his previous home so was in an outdoor kennel or tied out. Bud has truly blossomed with the freedom to run free at GHF . He is fine with cats and about 40 pounds. Bud has some interest in watching cars which makes sense considering that was his ‘job’ while alone outside. He’ll do best in a more rural setting where traffic is not visually obvious. Bud came to GHF from a PA guardian who had him since a puppy and felt he needed a more appropriate situation. He requires a fenced yard in a rural setting.

Camera-shy BLU will soon have pictures to officially announce his adoption but for now, this happy picture is on the day he headed off to his new life! He is joined by a GHF alum and former GHF adopters who have had a few dogs from the Farm, all needing tender loving care which they do so well! We know Blu will be in great hands with them and flourish even more than he did at GHF. He now lives in NJ.

BLU: An 11 year old Border Collie, possibly BC/Aussie mix, Blu is a sweet, gentle soul trying to make sense of the new change in his life. He is leaning on our Caretakers to feel secure and now settled into the Farmhouse Sanctuary, he’s blossoming with the other dogs that show him it’s safe to have fun. Blu lived in two homes, recently loosing the 2nd one due to illness of his guardian. Blu’s always been a bit of a worrier so really does best with people who calmly understand how to make him feel safe, not pushing him to do too much, too fast. The other herding dogs have really intrigued him so he’s changing quickly around them. We want Blu to have canine pals around to help in his next transition to yet another home. He is very, very sweet and truly wants to be your companion. Toys don’t matter, just people do and now, maybe dogs! He is carrying extra weight from eating lots of people food but that’s easy to sort out over time with a diet. He is fine with cats. Blu came to GHF from his former guardian who did dearly love him. He requires a fenced yard.

We are so thrilled for Donnie to have a new FurMom who not only understands the breed, she is a savvy, skilled trainer who is excited to introduce Donnie to the world of learning and being challenged. He’ll get all her attention day in and day out, going wherever she goes, right by his side and being able to try lots of activities to sharpen his mind. His new canine pal will be his mentor, too, showing him the ropes of how great dogs sync with their person. This adoption was so special to see unfold! A heartfelt thanks to Robin & Mark Stawacz who gave Donnie an important first month of stability so he’s ready for whatever comes next! He now lives on a beautiful property in Vermont where he’ll flourish!

DONNIE: An 8 month old Border Collie, Donnie is a doll - wow, what a friendly boy with everyone! He is a big toy boy, too and is enjoying whatever he finds as part of his exploration of his new situation at GHF. We’ve paired him with two “mentor dogs” since Donnie is blind and he is thoroughly loving all the action. Clearly, a BC pal is important for his energy outlet but also has a stimulating guide to life. Donnie is joyful, confident and curious but another BC really helps him relax best. He is smart, likes to learn and eager to please so will be fun to teach. This cuddler has everything in order to be a great companion to someone who understands the intimate friendship that must be forged as well as normal stimulation for the breed. Donnie is about to go to foster care the end of October but could be seen at GHF until then. He is not yet tested on cats and about 40 pounds. He was surrendered directly to GHF by a NY guardian who stepped in to prevent him from being euthanized due to blindness but knew she couldn’t offer him what he fully needed. Donnie requires a fenced yard.

We are beyond ecstatic that Tes is going to remain in her foster home with one of our very favorite people! This pup will not only have a great life of BC antics, she will get a chance to show off all her brilliance in agility where her new FurMom excels! And, this is one pup who needed this active, action oriented life! A GHF adopter, we know the life this girl will grow into and it’s going to be great - though she took a breath to check with her husband to make sure adding her to the family was ok: Lillie, I have so fallen in love with this little girl. She has slid right into my pack with out even a ripple. I wanted her from the beginning, but didn't even dare think to add another. This morning I did, and my wonderful husband said: "Of course you can keep her!” We’re excited to see little Tes on GHF summer vacations, too!

TES: A 4 month old bc mix, Tes is a tiny power house. She is super confident, curious and extremely athletic. A natural fearless jumper, she flies off furniture as if it’s a ballet, classic BC balance. Finding enough activity for Tes is going to be a challenge since she truly is non-stop. Smart as a whip, a simple ‘lie down’ quietly said, lands her right on the ground, waiting for the next direction. And, seconds later, she is up and moving, all action! She loves toys of any kind and will engage with anyone eager to know her, super friendly and trusting. Tes will be a blast to train and a joy to partner with, in whatever activity. We feel she really needs an outlet for her energy, mind and focus so will consider sport homes as her best choice for the right life. Tes slid into the Founder’s home with 17 other adult dogs, befriending the younger dogs and quickly learning what the older dogs would allow or not. Sharp as can be, she is bold and beautiful to watch in action. Tes is a little smaller in size for her age but it’s hard to know her ultimate size since puppies this age have growth spurts that are hard to predict. We’ll update her bio with action shots soon! She is always in motion!!

At 6 months old, TIG found his way to GHF, having spent 5 months in a bad breeding situation, then sold to an elderly couple in wheelchairs, with no fenced yard who tied him out…thankfully they realized the misfit and through the help of others, he found his way to safety at the Farm. Sweet as can be with the brightness of a happy soul coming out, this little guy is now set for life. He landed with former GHF adopters who have two BC’s from us, Banning & Rion, and now will give this fella exactly what he needs - tons to do, lots of fun and buddies just like him! They came to visit to add a younger BC and it was Tig who easily slid into the pack as if he’d lived with them all along - it was adorable to watch unfold. Tig now lives in PA.

This petite sweet girl did her duty caring for her pups and landed at GHF at the perfect time to find her new home! Former GHF adopters had been hoping to find the right match to add to their pack since last summer but no one fit very smoothly. So, they waited. They so wanted to add another and returned again with high hopes - BRYNA, now Nikki - was the one! She easily accepted the other three and they relaxed as if she was a long lost friend, exactly the right combination. So, Nikki will enjoy lots of walks, games, learning and even vacations at GHF when they return in 2018 - we love seeing the gang and now it’s even more special

BRYNA: A petite 3 year old Border Collie, Byrna has finished her mamma duties with all pups on their way and now it’s her turn! She is incredibly sweet, a tiny little gem who wants to cuddle and be near your side. She is fine mixing with other dogs but clearly, wants a person to call her own. Bryna is very easy going, good natured and fairly confident in new situations considering her limited history living in an Amish barn. She was fortunately released to a rescue who contacted GHF for help. Bryna has a lovely temperament and will be a fabulous friend for someone who wants a more mellow BC. She is fine with cats and about 35 pounds.

ORLA found a wonderful life with former GHF adopters who were ready to bring a puppy into their hearts. They had adored living and loving senior dog, Addie, til she passed, leaving their hearts full of love to give again. Pup Orla is going to be their focus 24/7 as she gets to learn all the activities that stimulate her mentally and physically, a hiking pal and a deep, beloved friend as well. She now lives in NJ.

Our “puppy Foster Mom” has cared for all the unexpected pregnancies over a decade of volunteering for GHF. She and her husband open their hearts and home to bring them safely into the world and lovingly nurture them to be ready for their new lives. Once before, she knew one of the Mammas was meant to stay so she did and now, little pup OLEA spoke to her, heart to heart, and her home is now all set, staying right there. She’ll round out the pack to six, making it tons of fun for all!
Little OLYMPIA with the big name, lived up to all that she showed from birth - great gusto for action! So, now she has joined a big pack and has a country life not far from the Farm with one of our Caretakers so we’ll get to see this mighty girl grow up around GHF each week! Within short order, she slid right into her new life, like the return visit that was forecast, reunited with her FurMom and FurDad who lost her way too early, not long ago. Welcome back little ‘big one’, joining GHF alums, Tuck, Raine & Lennon, plus her other canine pals she knows so well.

Little OLIVIA now known as LIV, joins GHF alum, LuLu for a great life with their FurDad who adores the breed. They join him at home at his work with plenty of acres for playing and even swimming. Lulu has become the company’s favorite girl but now Dad has not only his human daughter, he has three canine girls he cherishes (14 yr old Chewy couldn’t make the drive). We know Liv & LuLu will have a fabulous life, now living in NJ.

We are so happy for this wonderful duo to have found their new lives quickly and with former GHF adopters we know so well - they will completely adore them! Now on their 5th GHF Border Collie, we’re just thrilled to have them adopt again. After overnighting, it was clear that alum Buddy thought these girls were pretty interesting and they felt the same curiosity about him, all a good start. Once outside, they just love the exact same thing - exploring the great outdoors! In a funny bit of history, turns out Buddy used to live with four dogs and Casey & Pepper lived with two others so they are all easily content with a pack of canine pals! Casey & Pepper now live in PA.

CASEY & PEPPER: Two 8 year old Border Collies, these gals are pals through and through! They’ve lived together all their lives and it clearly shows, always looking for each other and happy to check out anything new, together. They are super sweet, easy-going and love people. Pepper is the major ball girl of the two and will endlessly play if someone will give her a good toss. Casey is a tiny bit shy so will hang back and wait to see what is next, just happy to be by your side wherever you go. They are really enjoying the new setting at GHF, exploring the land with gusto. Both will slide back into a new life as great companions for someone special - they are absolutely lovely dogs. They lost their home due to the death of their elderly guardian, who surely adored them. Relatives felt GHF could give this pair the right home suited to their needs. They are a bit overweight from the more sedate situation in recent history but we’ll knock that off easily now that they are more active again. Casey & Pepper are good with dog savvy cats.

Some days at GHF, we wait and wish and hope for just the right humans to come for ‘special needs’ dogs who are wonderful but need special understanding. MILO needed all the time at GHF, learning and trusting and sorting out that life could be ok for him, WITH people - and, over time, he grew tremendously. But, he still needed just the right fit. Well, not only is Christmas real and Happy New Years are possible, but a dog’s dreams are about to unfold!!! Milo, a fearful, worried boy, in rescue for just over ONE YEAR, found two guardians who truly understand that life is a big time journey of partnership.. step by step.. finding what works and what doesn’t and then loving each other, fully. Milo met his new FurMom and FurDad and was instantly and clearly voting a HUGE yes for them! And, they agreed. They’ve lived with a herding dog, their beloved Tucker, who had concerns about life and they know that the greatest journey of all is LOVE, no matter how hard or easy. Milo has found the home that is perfect for him and we are jubilant that this match has come to be - all, humans and canine alike, will enjoy such closeness and caring and understanding - that it will be transformative for all! Milo agreed whole-heartedly! Within minutes of being home, Milo knew he was in the right place! No more living in a garage all alone, afraid of the world..he is a cherished friend now.

MILO: A 1 1/2 yr old Border Collie, Milo has really blossomed and is enjoying the bigger life he now has, with other canine herding friends and people who understand him. He is learning quickly how to think about all the fun he can have and really benefits from a female BC buddy as a his mentor dog. Milo will need BC savvy guardians who can continue guiding him step by step through new situations successfully. Most of his worries are diminished now but some new things may throw him so being ready with toys and treats to help him feel secure, is important. He now loves to say hello to people and expects to have a great toy game with everyone he meets, a classic BC focus! Milo started a bit behind having been left in the garage all alone in his previous situation. Fortunately, a dog lover stepped in to get him out of there and into rescue. Milo is about 35 pounds and good with dog savvy cats. He requires a fenced yard

Sweet POLLY found exactly the life that will suit her best - guardians who truly love the breed and a FurMom who enjoys the close companionship of a beloved canine friend, day in and day out. They’re going to hike together daily, play tons of ball and she will become a true family member in every way. Polly will really blossom in their care and won their hearts instantly, when she met her new FurMom first, then her FurDad returned and agreed she was the perfect fit. So, Mom and daughter came back to take this wonderful girl home, forever!! She now lives in NJ.

POLLY: A petite 2 year old Border Collie, Polly is a toy girl, absolutely loving any toy anytime, anywhere! She is very focused and loves the action of the game. She’s a little girl with a big personality, friendly and outgoing and ready for anything. Polly is settling in at GHF so we’ll update her bio as we get to know her but so far, she is one happy, confident, outgoing Border Collie. She lost her home when her elderly NY guardian died and neighbors stepped in to find she and another dog, a male BC mix, a new home. She and that male got along famously with her being the boss but right now, she seems happiest as the only dog. She is about 35 pounds and Depending on the cat, Polly will chase but will not harm so dog savvy cats only or perhaps, no cats…all depends on the cat.  We are very happy the dog lovers who stepped in, entrusted her to GHF. They are keeping the male mix. She must be in a fenced yard.

NANN, now known as Hannah, has landed right where she is supposed to be..finally finding the right BC savvy guardians who understand an over-thinker and can give her the life that works - fun, play, love and in a rural setting! Former GHF adopters who adored their GHF boy, he needed a simplified life, too which they gave him. A beloved family member, Hannah now gets to fill those big paws. She jumped into their hearts when they read about her and then coming to meet her weeks ago, sealed the deal. After a planned trip away, it was time for them to take this sweet girl home! She kissed them like long lost friends, clearly comfortable in their arms, even asking for her infamous belly rubs! Hannah is now home, forever! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Hannah!!!!

NANN: A petite 2 year old Border Collie, Nann is an amazing little dog with lots of big brainpower, learning anything and everything easily and quickly. She is super sweet, too, an intense cuddler with her person, just adorable. She also loves toys of any kind and is quite the athlete in all toy games! In addition to Nann’s great traits, she has some challenges where she worries about new people so will need a skilled guardian who handle introductions in some situations. Most of the time, she’s super friendly. She came to GHF as a little pup with tons of confidence and smart as a whip. Her adopter felt she couldn’t handle her very busy lifestyle going so many new places so returned Nann to GHF. We’re committed to helping Nann find happiness with someone skilled but more where she can enjoy the great outdoors and play and hike and enjoy being a companion. She is about 25 pounds and is best without cats. Nann plays nicely with other dogs outside but is quite bossy in the house so will be placed as a solo dog. She must be in a fenced yard.

We are so thrilled for MAGG to find her new life…yes, at 10 1/2, a life can begin anew and Magg is a testament to how this goes! She is smart, focused and all about ‘her person’ and while we expected a sedate senior needing our help, Miss Magg had her own agenda and showed everyone at GHF, exactly what she wanted - a person!! Finally, she found her - a person to partner with in life - step by step, side by side, joined at the hip. Former GHF adopters from 2001, so long ago, her new FurMom felt coming back to GHF was the right decision and her children agreed. All grown up now, they took the initiative on her Birthday to drive from Rhode Island to meet a few seniors. A lovely afternoon of dogs and open hearts and finding a new friend - happy birthday! and happy life for Magg!! We are so happy she now has another mission in life, to be a dear companion to someone special. This was a special moment for all!

MAGG, a 10 1/2 year old, is a sensitive, thoughtful girl who observes everything and absolutely adores people. Her favorite place to be is right by your side, like a shadow, the closer the better. This sweetheart would be thrilled to have someone to call her own, again. And, while she has shared her life with Mac & Molly, clearly her happiness comes from the connection with a person. We would love for Magg to be the center of someone’s life cause she gives her heart so fully. She is about 45 pounds and good with cats.  She needs a fenced yard.

Gentle, good-natured ELLE landed a life with two guardians who devote all their attention to their beloved canine friend, even home-cooked meals! The overnight at GHF gave Elle her first taste of what’s ahead when she got some scrambled eggs, salmon and goat cheese…a picky eater about dog food, this girl was happy to chow down! Her new FurMom and FurDad came a long way from Delaware for this petite girl and after a short time getting to know her, they were certain they could patiently help her blossom further. We were quite touched by their kindness, too, bringing goodies for the rescue dogs here - bedding, towels, toys, treats as well as for the humans, with baked goods - extremely sweet for everyone to receive a feeling of the love that Elle will now have, forever. She so deserves to be cherished and unharmed, surrounded by caring people. And, for fun, Elle will have daily trips to the ocean for tons of long distance runs which she absolutely loves!!!

ELLE: SPECIAL HOME REQUIRED A petite 2 year old Border Collie, Elle is precious, a sweet little thing that wants nothing more than to be with a person that cares for her. A real cuddler, soon as you sit with her, she lays at your feet and settles in beautifully, even enjoying a good roll in the grass! Elle has a lot to learn about life..things she’s never seen or done because she was taken nowhere so she will need a patient guardian to guide her. She gets very nervous thinking she is wrong and will collapse in one spot, hoping not to be in trouble but with reassurance and time, she quickly recovers, happily by your side. In her short time at GHF, she has blossomed beautifully and is racing, chasing and running with other Border Collies, really gaining her confidence. We will only place her with a BC savvy adopter and with another herding dog. It’s also best if she has a mentor dog but depending on the person, she might be able to go as a solo dog in a calm home. Elle is very trusting but has so much to learn. It’s amazing how sweet and open she is considering she was left on a 12 inch chain in a cow barn, all alone and no freedom to move at all. Elle didn’t herd so not really sure the point of having her there but she did produce a litter of pups which meant money so perhaps that’s why. Either way, we are thankful for a dog lover who spotted her and alerted GHF that she was not wanted. She is about 30 pounds and good with cats. She requires a fenced yard.

KELLY found a loving home with former GHF adopters who had 2 BC’s, one recently passing so wanted to open their home to another dog in need. They fell in love with Kelly instantly and knew she would fit their lives perfectly. Plus, she has the important job of being the partner/leader and friend for special needs GHF dog, Nick, who is blind. Once her new FurMom & FurDad saw Kelly’s focus on the ball, they knew it would perk Nick right back up to the life he was used to - with a female boss and big time player! And, it’s happening that way, already great pals. We’re so happy for both.

KELLY: An 11 year old Border Collie with ABCA papers, Kelly is an amazing girl, bright as can be and just full of that classic sharp-eyed, ready to go, gonna have fun BC spirit! She is a gem. Kelly is also a very active, intense, energetic girl in no way acting her age so she deserves a great life where someone enjoys all this joyful energy! She loves her ball and will play endlessly though a little bit of down time is good, too, where she shows her more affectionate side. Super sweet and friendly, Kelly is a great companion, able to hike off leash though has never lived unfenced. She is fine with cats, fine with dogs but used to living as a solo dog so likely happiest that way. Kelly was relinquished to GHF from NJ guardians who had to make a move to an apartment.

KELLY is an amazing athlete, so fit, so agile and so focused, a classic Border Collie wired with all the traits that anyone who loves the breed, will love with her!  And, she is a great hiking partner with perfect recall!
