She is curious about the action all around her but most importantly, wants to be with a person, next to their side or in the room with them. Mandee's nice nature is very charming. She also seems to show some worry about being wrong at times so she will do best with a quiet home that patiently reassures her that she is wonderful. Mandee is OK with cats, but needs a dog savvy cat due to herding interest.  She is about 40 pounds. She was living outside and was dropped off at a PA shelter with three other dogs. Thankfully, the shelter works with us regularly and called for help.

Puppies from Katrina survived the storm and a long ride to NY!

We received a call from a volunteer coordinating rescue of numerous dogs in the south due to Katrina. Five beautiful Border Collie pups had been abandoned. The person with the dogs had the parents but nowhere to take the pups so left them with the Animal Control Officer in Lousiana, a coastal area so badly hit that there was literally nothing left of the town.

Through the kindness of Gerry & Lisa O'Mara, Karen Leshin & Chris McLaughlin & Nancy Tringali, these wonderful Border Collies have all found new homes.-

Zach loves to play chase with other dogs, but also loves a belly rub from his person. He is very sweet and smart, eager to learn. He could be a great sport candidate. Zach is typical in size for his age. He needs a home with dog savvy cats or no cats since he is zealous in his interest.  Due to Zach's high drive, he will only be placed in a border collie savvy home with other young border collies. Zach came from a shelter in PA.  Zach is being fostered in PA and can be seen at the Farm

BANDIT found his forever home in the foster home where he won his new guardian's heart hands-down...there was no way he was coming back to the farm!  He lives with another dog from the farm, Stella, who also voted for Bandit to stay!! He now lives in Ct.

BANDIT - A 7 year old Border Collie, Bandit is a real lover. He adores people and is very affectionate, giving lots of kisses. He is most happy with his person near his side though he also loves to herd other dogs and could be happy with another dog since he did live in one home all his brother (who was adopted recently). He is very friendly and loves people and is really wonderful with all the dogs he meets. He is having a blast at the Farm, free to run and actively explore lots of acreage which he had not recently had in his home. A very sweet, loving, attentive dog, he is a real joy to be around! He is good with cats. Bandit was relinquished to the Farm due to a move which meant less yard space and significant time alone which his guardian felt was not fair. He was very loved and sorely missed. He came from PA.

CALLEY: A 6 month old Border Collie with papers, Calley came to the Farm in early November and went to The Connor House since she was so petite and young. She also needed special surgery so would spend a longer time there, too. In short order, she won the heart of our caretaker, Susan, and now will live permanently with her, enjoying the Farm and tons of dogs that she will get to help get ready for their new lives. Sweet Calley won all our hearts and we're happy to have her join the Farm family. She joins Susan and her other four dogs, Riley, Bryce, Isabelle and Wade (three of them from the farm!)

Malcolm
is 2 1/2 months old, a wonderfully sweet Border Collie/ Golden Retriever cross. He came to us when we took in his mom, Oreo, who was recently adopted. Malcolm is a gem, a loving, cuddle bug, happy to follow you around and hang in your lap for kisses. He is interested in other dogs and wants to play and is one of the most happy go lucky pups we have ever seen! Malcolm would be a terrific therapy dog because of his sweet nature.
Malcolm found his forever home with loving guardians who fell in love with his picture on the site and his muddy nose! Even more importantly than his wonderful face, they were so excited to bring Malcolm into the world of animal therapy. He will be going to work each day to a NY veteran's home to help the residents feel the joy of being with a dog. Their former dog was adored for years in this work and now Malcolm gets to take over, bringing his special charm and magic to brighten everyone's day. On his days off, Malcolm gets to visit a nearby lake for lots of swims and hang with 4 dogs who are also part of his extended family. Malcolm found his perfect place in upstate NY.

STORM found his forever home with two other border collie and loving guardians and kids who adore this breed - the kids are even trained to handle all their quirks..a wonderful home with lots of love, room to run and herd and play! Storm happily learned that playing ball is big fun, too by watching his new friends who are ball maniacs! Storm now lives in MA.

HERA - found her forever home with adopters who already have three dogs from the Farm and have been patiently waiting for a little white Border Collie to find her way to them! And, she did.

DEZZI: A 1 year old Border Collie with papers, Dezzi is a loving, friendly, people oriented girl, very happy to be involved in everything. She has lots of desire to play, is great with other dogs and is very very agile. Dezzi adjusts well to new situations, confident and easy going. She is very smart and would benefit from an involved relationship with activities to do or another dog for dog games. Dezzi is also a cuddler, very gentle and affectionate. She is about 35 pounds, and is OK with cats, but needs a dog savvy cat due to herding interest.  She came to the Farm from Maryland, given up for too much energy.

DEZZI and RYAN found their forever homes together when the adopters fell in love with Dezzi and were sure she was the perfect addition to their family, that is, until they met Ryan, who immediately curled up in their laps, being the mushy loving boy he is. The only answer was to take them both...Dezzi will have lots and lots of toy play as well as lots of outdoor activity like cross country skiing while Ryan decides between toys and cuddling... a perfect combination of dogs for a houseful of loving children. Dezzi and Ryan happily headed out the gate into a new life of love and play in Massachusetts.

RYAN: A 7 month old Border Collie, Ryan is a lovebug and he is also all Border Collie, energetic and fun looking for something to do. He loves other dogs and will play and play and play, especially with another young dog. He is very smart, attentive and very loving, happy to sit in your lap for cuddling. Ryan is great in the car, good natured and easy going though active of course. He is about 30 pounds, not yet tested on cats. He was a stray in NJ in a shelter that fortunately works with the Farm regularly.

Beautiful Breeze found her forever home with another Border Collie, Mel, who is as focused on toys as she is so her new guardians felt she was a perfect companion and most importantly, they fell in love with her sweet, cuddly, good nature and wanted to have her join their family. She loved them, too, up on the couch for lots of attention and then lots of toy play. She'll be doing agility each week for fun, too, so will surely excel with it! Breeze (all ready to head out the gate) happily hopped into the car for her new life in New Hampshire.

BREEZE: A 10 month old Border Collie, Breeze is remarkably agile, a joy to watch running, chasing and racing around the Farm. She is very toy focused and leaps straight off the ground with all four feet clearly a wonderful candidate for sports! Breeze loves other dogs and is happy herding around them all though she is not an intense herder. She is delightfully sweet, loves to be with you and happy to curl up in a chair for awhile. But, mostly she loves toys and is ready to run and play like any young Border Collie. Breeze is very focused on cats so will be not be placed with them though she does not hurt them. She is about 40 pounds and a bit taller than some BC's. She came from a shelter in PA relinquished from her guardian who was 70 years old living in an apartment.

Sweet Frances went to her forever home with perfect guardians who just fell immediately in love with her wonderful good nature and friendly, loving ways. Frances thought they were perfect for her, too, happily cuddling and eager to be with them. Frances will be totally adored in her new home in NJ.

FRANCES: A 1 year old Border Collie, Frances is very people oriented, eager to bond and happy to be at your side. She is very smart, very fun and playful. She absolutely loves toys and is great playing her version of keep away. Frances previously lived with kids and is an easy going girl though full of energy like any young Border Collie. She has been trained on the invisible fence system and is good with cats. She is carrying some extra weight but loosing it easily here. She was surrendered to the farm from central NY due to a landlord issue.

Natane caught our attention because she looked so much like Brock, here in our rescue but we have been so overwhelmed with dogs that we had to post her on our courtesy listings.  We have continued to keep track of her at the shelter to make sure she was safe. And, finally a happy ending is about to happen....someone posted her information to a frisbee internet list and an adopter in Texas is bringing her into his home! We are helping to transport her to the airport for her journey to her new life and are thrilled to see this wonderful get a chance at a very exciting life as a frisbee dog!!!

A special thanks to Liz Bush who has tracked her at the shelter and Laura Sollers and Liz who are making time on Sunday to move her from Watertown NY to Newark NJ airport.

SHEA/SHAWN found his forever home with the foster family that had opened their home to him and their hearts, spending time with him each day while he was temporarily boarded when the farm was too full. SHAWN: A 3 year old Border Collie, Shawn is friendly with everyone, happy to be involved with people and all activities. He is very lively and wants to run and run and run. We know he will do well once he can learn a bit about real life and enjoy the space he needs to be a Border Collie. He was being given up 'free to a good home' when a concerned citizen stepped in to contact us to help him.  Shawn is in a foster home in NY in a special trial adoption.

JADE found her forever home with another Border Collie who is so much like her, it would almost seem like they were sisters. They both love the ball and have the same gentle yet focused natured. ZOEY found her forever home with adopters who have another dog from the Farm and felt drawn to bring Zoey into their home. Lots of patience, love and step by step training will surely help her trust that living her new life will be grand!! Zoey now lives in Vermont.

ZOEY: An 1 1/2 year old petite Border Collie, Zoey is a very alert girl focused on everything around her. She loves other dogs and is interested in everything they do. She makes up toy games, throwing toys up in the air and catching them by herself, a very happy girl. She is, however, undersocialized so is afraid of people at the moment. She trembles and shakes when being touched yet comes to life when other dogs are around, eager to initiate play. She will be at the Farm as we help her gain confidence and we expect over time that she will transform into a dog ready for a new life and loving guardians. We have had over a dozen Border Collies with similar needs come into rescue and they are all now in loving homes. Her recovery may take many many months and she will only be placed in a home with another dog and a hard fence. Zoey was purposely bought by another rescuer from a 'backyard breeder' who had left her living in a filthy dark shed with no human contact. The situation was reported to the SPCA in NJ.
