At age 10, ALLIE's life took a turn putting her in jeopardy. Her history was already a very sad one living as a breeding dog with no freedom or care, churning out money-making puppies. At age 6, she settled into a better situation of apartment living and a guardian that loved her for a few years. Yet Allie eventually suffered neglect due to the person’s illnesses, no longer even taken outside for fresh air.

However, that was not as harmful as what COULD have happened next... The ambulance came to take her guardian away. Apartment neighbors were gathered all around the chaotic event. Everyone knew and loved Allie, worried about her fate. A relative stated that “Allie was going to a shelter."

Currently, shelters are unable to handle the incredible onslaught of more dogs than ever landing at their doors. Rates of strays have skyrocketed since people just let them go but shelters can’t take them anyway. Euthanasia is a real reality. There is no space for all the abandoned dogs.

Allie…a neglected Senior dog weighing 91 pounds would have been
TOP OF THE LIST TO EUTHANIZE.

In stepped a dog lover, who had grown to enjoy Allie since he moved in nearby, though had never seen her in such poor shape. Once she stopped being taken outside, he wondered if she was even there. In his mind, he knew only one decision mattered…and it had to be RIGHT AT THAT VERY MOMENT. He spoke up, ‘I’ll take Allie’. Though he was not earning money from a full-time job, he felt he could prevent a tragedy. He did just that.

Two months of helping her lose some weight and renewing Allie's sense of purpose belonging to someone really mattered. Each time they walked the apartment complex, she would stop and lay down where she previously lived. One day, she looked him squarely in the eye and then that never happened again. He contacted Rescue. She was ready for another step.

THANKFULLY, through Glen Highland Border Collie Rescue, ALLIE met a pair of dog lovers who made the decision TO ADOPT HER BEFORE EVEN MEETING HER!

The couple had lost a beloved canine friend and were eager to find another who really needed a better life.

They listened to her story, saw her pictures, discussed all the details and then met at Allie's first vet visit, hearing all the medical needs. Their love for her was instant, so off she went to her new forever home.

Four decisions by people who loved Border Collies changed the trajectory of Allie’s life…

So she is STILL sharing that magnificent spirit of hers.

Everyone who meets Allie is drawn to her…the neighbors, the vet staff, the adopters…

ALLIE is a ‘heart dog’. No matter what life situation has come her way…SHE has shared joy and love.

Now living with two loving adopters, she is their sunshine and on her way to better health and happiness, too. Everyone at Glen Highland is so happy to have helped this lovely girl.
