We are CHEERING for CHARLEY who found his forever home!! This fella has so much joy to share and instantly bounded toward his new person with a big hello and then enjoyed a frisbee toss, too! He’ll be the 24/7 focus of his new FurDad as his constant companion, meeting the folks at the post office; friends at the cafe and neighbors who are already eager to say hello! Charley is a charming diplomat for the breed and so deserving of the spotlight! His new FurDad drove 9 hours from North Carolina to meet our fosterer who drove 9 hours from Vermont. We created a unique spot for the adoption event at a Vrbo in West Virginia, halfway between the two! The house setting worked perfectly with an overnight and off they went early am! |

Charley’s first trek in the countryside was great to see as well as his comfort crashed at home, joining a BC buddy who visits all the time, Juniper. We know great adventures are ahead for both canine and human!!!!! From his new FurDad:

CHARLEY'S HISTORY 9 year old CHARLEY is the perfect buddy for someone who loves to play and explore the great outdoors...he just loves adventures with his person. He is SUPER friendly with everyone he meets and absolutely blossoms with the attention of his person. A very people oriented fella, Charley is fun, smart and very loving. He is ready for a new journey with a special someone he has yet to meet. His charming nature is evident as he puts his head on top of your leg or chest when laying down, giving that big-eyed hello so happy to BE with you. Aside from his solid focus on his person/people, he really loves toys and will play with squeaky toys much like a pup, entertaining himself or join in a game to retrieve a ball. Charley also loves to run at a full sprint as fast as he can on a hike or in the huge yard he is now enjoying.
He is quite an athlete to watch in action! Charley is a sensitive, softer guy and flourishes with encouragement so the right people really matter! Plus, if he can go along for errands or trips, he would be thrilled as well as leash walks, too. A fenced yard is also ideal. Charley is 40 pounds. Charley is very interested in chasing cats, so best without them. Charley had an unexpected spinal challenge in August 2025, where he was immobile on a back leg. Good news is with physical therapy, he recovered fully! The vet expects Charley to have a solid future, able to run and play as much as he wants, though may have some weakness in the one back leg. Of course, Charley feels great and is his happy self! Prior to rescue, Charley lived in Pennsylvania and had a big job living with five children after the death of his first guardian. While he was a loved family member, he was not at the top of the list. The family knew he deserved more time and attention and Glen Highland was happy to help. Now, it’s HIS chance to shine!
