COOPER has found a new home!! His story is a special one reliant on finding just the right people who would consider him regardless of his medical conditions… Turns out that this very handsome, sweet fella has a long list of special needs…all of which turned most everyone away except one former Glen Highland adopter - long time Friends of the Farm - they visited in 2005 and have adopted 6 dogs over the years. Big-hearted and open-minded, they have often taken on challenges and in Cooper’s case, his medical care was something they knew they could handle.
Though Cooper looks perfectly well, his vetting revealed early renal disease requiring prescription food to slow it down, a vitamin D deficiency needing supplementation, a heart murmur that required medication and a swallowing disorder that causes him to gag. On top of that, Cooper is petrified by any vetting or grooming, in a true panic attack to flee..meaning he has to be sedated for everything. His new guardians signed up for it ALL and fell in love after experiencing this deeply heartfelt gentle soul…we are so thrilled for everyone. They wanted another BIG loving Border Collie and Cooper needed all that love for him to flourish. |
A sensitive Border Collie, Cooper had his own chat with his new FurDad and even his new canine pal, intently sizing up his new life…we all chuckled cause by the end of the day, he was all settled into bed overnight at the airbnb in Virginia, content the next day to go HOME.

COOPER'S HISTORY A 9 year old sweetheart, Cooper is a very good-natured and softer style Border Collie. He loves people once he’s comfortable and is truly a lap dog wanting to be by your side, at your feet or on the bed next to you! A major cuddler, he is a gem. Cooper is also quite the ball dog and loves a good game of toss again and again, but he’s not over-the-top in his energy level. He’d be a great companion 24/7 since he is so people focused. He has lived a quieter life without many car trips or leash walking anywhere. Instead, he has basically enjoyed his home and yard so it takes him time to process new situations. A cautious thinker, he will need reassurance out in the big world. While Cooper could be a solo dog, he could benefit from a confident BC buddy so we’ll consider that option for him in a new home. He slid into the rescue setting easily with 4 other Border Collies and did live with a sibling all his life. Cooper is 40 lbs and came to Glen Highland due to a divorce situation.
