BIG NEWS at Glen Highland! - our little GWEN who arrived in 2015 as a 6 month old fearful pup now has a new life! At 11 years old, this is a wonderful turn of events for her only possible because one of our Caretakers fell in love! Gwen has had a fabulous life with dozens of other rescue BCs, hiking trails and swimming in a BC paradise but in it all, she always wanted to be the ‘special’ girl!! However, there is no way Gwen could go to just any home because her fearful nature leads to barking, nipping and biting if cornered. Living in the Sanctuary of rescue provided a totally safe, managed lifestyle where she never dealt with anyone without very careful management. Thing is when Shelley began working at the Founder’s home, it was Gwen who befriended her instantly and a love affair blossomed. |

Gwen now has a new BC buddy, a FurDad, FurMom & their son who all really get that Gwen needs a very predictable, structured life and then she showers you with affection! Once feeling secure, her comical nature won all their hearts! We are so thrilled that Gwen can now be the center of attention. Shelley and her family adopted Prim two years ago and provided a loving home until cancer sadly shortened her life. The unexpected development left an open spot and Gwen had certainly caught Shelley's heart when she began working with us in 2022. Clearly ’special needs’ Border Collies find their people! A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL THE ANGELS

GWEN'S HISTORY
She was posted on craigslist, no longer wanted. It was sad to see at that age she already distrusted people. It was clearly going to take a long time to help her and be unlikely to transfer to anyone new. The decision to provide a lifetime where we would manage her worries was easy to make since she was also so sweet and loving, when she felt safe. Now years later, this protected life has been a wise decision since we have seen Gwen nip, lunge and grab at people when they come too close in her space. Even with a rural lifestyle, plenty of BC friends and hardly any new visitors, Gwen’s fears are deeply seated, just as we suspected. We are so grateful that Glen Highland could give her a full life of love, joy and committed care as a Sanctuary Resident. She is an absolutely adorable girl who is fast and focused with her toys, an agile jumper, sailing over fences and big time cuddler who the people she knows! Gwen is very happy with her active BC buddies!!
