A long way from Texas, Jake came through Glen Highland in Virginia and now headed off to a new life in Cape Cod, Massachusetts!

We are thrilled for this very nice guy who really needed a new opportunity to be himself…smart, happy, loved and healthy. His month in rescue mattered cause Jake had a few serious medical issues we needed to handle before he left like a pain protocol for his broken tail that had not been discovered and removal of an abscessing fractured molar tooth… it was fantastic to see him feel soooo much better!

Now, he’ll be the full center of attention of his new FurMom who was certain soon as she saw him online, that HE was THE ONE for her!  After a long chat in June, the plan was set and Jake started his new life in July where he will surely flourish in her care.  She loves the breed and understands their incredible personalities and heartfelt bonding!

Wishing the best for Jake on his new journey!

JAKE'S HISTORY

Happy to welcome 10 year old JAKE from Texas…a good traveler handling a very long 24-hour haul including a hotel overnight …thankfully he is in good spirits and adjusting quickly!

Jake is a gorgeous, intelligent Border Collie with all the classic focus to observe his new surroundings carefully and think through the changes. Of course, ball play helps make sense of everything - he loves a good game!

Jake is very eager to bond with a person, following closely step by step. He is also affectionate and friendly, loving attention and glad to meet anyone, pleased for a scratch or belly rub. He comes with a quick call and has basic obedience which he happily does even for someone he just met: sit, lie down, paw, get the ball, drop it, go ahead, come here…quick to interpret what a person wants... he would be a great partner in life!

While Jake is fine with other dogs, he has a pushy style, likely because his herding instinct gets triggered so he will be placed as a solo dog. His nature could make another dog uncomfortable and create friction. He is not yet tested on cats.

Jake needed a spot in rescue due to a move and life change leaving less time to spend with him. He was clearly a beloved friend.
