At 7 1/2, KADE slid under the radar into the Senior rescue because he pulled at our heart strings! Stuck in a Tennessee shelter for four months, he needed ‘out’!

Soon as we met him, we began wondering WHOSE dog is this and discovered of course we knew - one of Glen Highland’s former adopters had lost a beloved BC from us last fall and was devastated… her exit was just way too soon.

So, the little fella who touched our hearts will now live in hers! The joy of seeing her smiling face made it all clear why this ‘youngster’ landed with us. And, in a bit of kismet, one of our other adopters was visiting from Vermont which is exactly where Kade needed to go so he headed off with her to his new life… nice and easy…meant to be!

Kade will bring special joy to his new FurMom and to everyone he meets..he is quite an ‘old soul imp’ even with his shaved hair!

A 7 1/2 year old adorable Border Collie mix, petite Kade is a fun loving guy who loves a ball toss anywhere, anytime! A focused and energetic boy, he can also calm easily once inside, laying right by your feet. He’s a great combination of easy-going and super playful. Sweet Kade is very friendly with everyone and seeks out being next to a person walking step by step by your side when exploring outside. He clearly wants a relationship with someone he can call his own!

Since Kade is a mix, he does not have a strong herding drive so he is not as intense as a purebred so could easily live in lots of situations. He absolutely loves other dogs and while at the shelter in Tennessee, he played every day with various large breeds. He has an engaged physical play style with another dog who wants to play that way Vs a herding style, circling the action so he does not need a herding dog friend to be happy.

Kade is about 40 pounds but smaller and shorter than a typical BC (see photo below with GH Resident, Daphne). He is not good with cats. We heard that Kade was in a shelter for four months and adoptions were so slow that they were worried about his happiness staying longer. A bit younger than the Seniors we normally take, he sounded terrific and slid into the Rescue group very easily. Good-natured, relaxed and yet a fun guy, we are excited to find him a new life! Kade can be a bit ‘grabby’ when playing ball, so best in adult home or with older children.

He was a stray in TN and reclaimed once by the owner and then picked up again. Living in an apartment, they surrendered him to the shelter.
