Saturday, April 8th, off to a family member’s home and then Sunday onto transport to Virginia. But then it was unexpectedly canceled due to the driver’s illness that required an ER visit. So, off to a boarding facility for two days, but Nikki also lost her best BC buddy, a 13 yr old Glen Highland alum when a tumor ruptured on her spleen. Both were set to come together to GH. Now, Nikki was truly alone and the anxiety was showing. Monday, the 10th, a nearby GH adopter agreed to move Nikki to her home to provide more normalcy since the stress was surfacing as separation anxiety. Nikki was unraveling…barking, pacing, crying, it was rough…she had lost everything. Thankfully, Nikki met GH alums there who helped her gain some grounding to feel safe. But, Nikki was exhausted though her journey to Virginia had to continue…only one more day. Wednesday April 12, a GH adopter coming to visit from Vermont was re-routed west to pick up Nikki. More GH alum rescues were ready to help her feel safe, but... Thursday, April 13th, once at GH in Virginia, things started feeling better for Nikki. She began herding rescue dog Tucker while he chased the ball and she was hanging with more pals again... but her anxiety continued… dogs were not the answer… she wanted to be right with the Founder every moment and when apart, Nikki made her desires known (all understandable of course). Eight days after her world turned upside down, on Friday, April 14th… this beautiful, sweet girl got the answer to what she wanted… as one person popped up who had been patiently waiting to add a beloved BC again once her Glen Highland dog passed. They would be perfect together - someone totally devoted to Nikki and giving her a big life, front and center, filled with love, inseparable. And, they would be nearby other GH alums to visit weekly - the very same dogs Nikki met in the car ride to Virginia! All she had to do was endure a two day trip to Vermont… and Nikki would be in the loving arms of the GH adopter who so wanted her.
