Scout arrived on Saturday, June 6th and on Thursday, June 11th he headed off to his new home with a former GH adopter! We had a strong feeling that someone we knew would see the posting of Scout and feel their heart skip a beat and they did! After a few videos and an in-depth call, it was clear he was exactly the guy they were hoping for! We are thrilled for Scout to land in such a loving home with people who really understand the breed!

Scout joins another GH alum, Sophie, who is happiest with a partner dog and his new FurMom wanted another ball dog after losing her GH alum, Charlie…so he was just the right guy to fit!

Scout handled the long car rides like a champ...enduring his second 9 hour drive making him a well traveled fella…from South Carolina to Virginia to Delaware to upstate NY!! Whew...what a whirlwind and he’s already happily playing ball!

SCOUT'S STORY

An 11 year old Border Collie, Scout is the real deal - focused, driven and ready to play! Soon as the ball comes out, he stares, stalks and crouches, then racing for the catch…classic! He is also a frisbee nut! Scout's carrying extra weight (66lbs) now since his person became ill with Parkinson’s and lost the ability to exercise him properly. In one home since a pup, she sadly had to selflessly let him go so his needs could be better met. He’s clearly been a beloved friend and wants to be with people, an affectionate yet driven guy!

We are happy to have this gem of a Border Collie and be of help. Scout is sweet, eager to bond, very personable and well balanced. One hilarious moment came on arrival when he was sure the propane tank had a ball on top and demanded we toss it!

Took a bit of convincing but he’s now in sync with everything at the Rescue. In fact, Scout slid in beautifully with two others - Daphne & Jack - and is making the most of his new world.

Scout has basic obedience training and is very responsive. He has not yet been tested with cats but does great with other dogs and lived with two dachshunds until now. Based on his body frame, he’s likely to be around 45-50 pounds. He has ABCA paperwork.

Scout has been completely vetted with bloodwork, urinalysis and testing for heartworm and tick-borne diseases and in great shape! He came to Glen Highland from his South Carolina home where he’s had a large fenced yard so we prefer giving a fenced home again. Scout travels great in a car.
