A story of love…open hearts & open minds... Little Sonny is now SUNNY because his great disposition won over his adopters! His story is a sweet one with a lot of history that came before him. So…here goes... With Sonny being rather skittish, though very curious, we kept thinking where oh where could this little fella Sunny fit best and the answer was obvious! Former adopters had always left Glen Highland with shy, under-socialized Border Collies from crazy breeder situations where things were just not done right. In fact, these dogs endured a living hell. But, in their loving hands with tons of patience, they gave dog after dog after dog just the right place to blossom. They never put pressure on them and asked them to be more than they could be…they even moved to a new home in a quieter area with more acreage and a pool so they could all just enjoy being one big family - human & canine! FIVE SKITTISH GLEN HIGHLAND RESCUE DOGS |
Always a Border Collie family, they came to GH in 2009 and added WELLER. They had taken a tour to meet the TN group from a horrible confiscation and knew they wanted to help him. He’s the little freckled guy in the back! |
Then in 2012, a very shy sweet red guy named RUDY needed a special spot. He was hiding and scared of life. Of course there was room for one more! |
And then in 2014, they opened their home and hearts to a Sprakers confiscation dog, RIVER. Totally unsocialized and panicked, she joined the pack! Again, they really wanted to help! She’s the one way in the back hiding from everything. |
Another request to help led them to add KEIRA in 2016, a very, very shut down but sweet little gal from a horrific Indiana breeder. She was so shy, we couldn't grab a family adoption photo. |
And, then in 2019, we asked if they could kindly find a spot for the sweet but terrified ECHO. Another semi-feral girl never properly cared for. She is on the green leash with her tail tightly tucked between her legs. |
In 2024, now with only 3 dogs in the pack, they had a spot for someone new. So when we called to introduce Sunny, they said, "Of course, we’d like to try!" |
Little Sunny headed off to their home and now after a few weeks, is clearly staying. He needed some time to fit with the cat, though it was instant that they loved him, and his canine pals fit, too. He joins alums River, Keira & Rudy for a new life of love and caring... no longer needed for breeding… no longer fighting for food or living with fleas… he is now a dear beloved family member.
