• Fenced yard Jax, age 11, landed at Glen Highland due to the death of the guardian. He is a very intelligent, thoughtful guy who is happy exploring outside and playing ball - he actually loves any tossed ball of any size or shape - thrilled for fun! Also very sweet, Jax is affectionate with people and happy to be laying by your side end of day or trotting along for a relaxed walk. Jax came with his housemate, Jill, age 8 and while they get along pretty well, they have separate interests and needs. Jax grows tired of being bossed around and controlled by Jill. Now that she will soon undergoing bi-lateral hip dysplasia and be exercise restricted for so many months, it’s good for him to find an active life. Jax is very healthy, has great sight and hearing. He does have arthritis in his legs so pain medication helps. Of course, Jax looks fabulous running and could care less! Jax is around 50 pounds. Jax is best as a solo dog since he has a history living with a Jack Russell Terrier also bossing him around, before Jill arrived on the scene. Clearly, he would like freedom to be himself. He does not mix with other dogs well.
The guardians passed away a year ago leaving Jax and Jill in the care of a family member determined to keep them out of a shelter. The living situation meant the duo had no yard and only leash-walking. Jill & Jax came to GH from South Carolina. A huge thank you to Michael Strauss, Ann Miller and Elvin Atkins for moving them to us in Virginia.

Often when pairs come into rescue, their differences are greater than realized and giving them a life on their own gives them more happiness. These two do not ’need’ to be together.
Jax is ready for a real life where he can be the center of someone’s world.
