• Solo dog, or with a male canine friend At 10 years old, PIPPA is a gentle soul happy to have a person who understands her sweet, soft nature. She is very quiet and calm, really at ease being with her person for a leisurely day. Pippa is not overly intense or demanding, instead her relaxed going nature makes her the ideal companion. She loves attention but also is happy to sit on her bed and watch out the window to see what’s going on in the world around her. A curious and thoughtful Border Collie, she is smart and focused and people oriented. Pippa is heartworm positive so being treated with the slow-kill method due to her age. Since she is not super active, this is an ideal way to handle the disease. A simple application of Advantage-Multi between her shoulders each month will eventually kill the heart worms. She is doing well with this approach. Glen Highland will provide the medication for a full year once adopted. She fits nicely with other dogs and will initiate play with a male BC though doesn’t like a pushy energy in her space. A nice relaxed canine friend would suit her best though she could be just as happy as a partner to a person as the solo dog. Pippa will play with toys a bit though it’s not her full focus…people really are what she cares about. Pippa would be best living in a calm setting with someone who loves the idea of a close companion but not big time play dog. She is 40 pounds and not yet tested on cats. Her hearing and sight are good and general health is good. She is on pain daily meds for arthritis - CBD from Elle-vet and Gabapentin at night. Pain management will need to be continued. Pippa will do best living in a single level home without stairs due to arthritis. Found as a stray, Pippa landed in an overcrowded Oklahoma shelter about to be euthanized when our rescue colleague, BC Save reached out to us and Glen Highland stepped in. For adoption inquiries, write rescue@glenhighland.com A HUGE thanks to Amanda Mayo who devotes her time to reaching out to rescues when there is no time left. And, as always, our appreciation to BCSave and Adam Derby who transported Pippa. We are grateful to help this lovely girl. |
