• Fenced yard
A 10 year old, Reilly is not a sedate fella at all - he is FULL of energy - much like a 6 year old! The ball is his favorite go-to game but it’s not always retrieving, it’s more a keep-away-chase-me game even while other dogs are retrieving the ball. Think of him as the outfielder circling the action…happy as can be. Their ball retrieval game is his fun. Reilly is a very joyful, athletic guy who would go anywhere you go and enjoy all of it! He sticks nearby exploring outside, always checking in and hops in car for any trip you want to take..he is very people-centric. Reilly is also a VERY affectionate Border Collie, loving to cuddle in your lap and happily be by your side. He is very good with other dogs and needs a confident canine mentor dog. He’s followed the lead of 14 year old Daphne and it’s helped him with his own confidence, now comfortable following her to explore the yard and be outside alone. This sweet guy has a history of separation anxiety extremely worried when his person left so the other Border Collie "lead dog" stabilizes him. His anxiety stems from covid where he and his former person were together 24/7 for two years when she became ill. It was an extreme shock to him when she recovered and started leaving the house leading to behaviors she could not handle. The dog who arrived to us in late August is 100% different from the guy we see now. He has some obsessive tendencies to non-stop splash in water and a fear of thunder and gunshots but those are typical traits of the breed. His separation anxiety is no longer a major factor in his life and was clearly created situationally from the Covid time frame. Reilly is about 45 pounds and is not good with cats. He came to us from North Carolina. Special thanks to volunteers who transported Reilly to us: Karen Noblett & Aiyana Persinger.
Adoption inquiries, please write rescue@glenhighland.com For former Glen Highland adopters, we can arrange transport to the Northeast region. For new adopters, we require that you visit the dog in Virginia.
