• Reo is temporarily unavailable
A 12 year old Border Collie, REO has turned into a spunky, classic female BC, wanting to be in charge of the other dogs if they near her toys or food but oh so happy to be with ‘her’ human! Her joyful nature is delightful. She has quite a love for toys and will happily investigate anything near her, giving it a push or toss, interested to see what it does. She doesn’t have the stamina for a fetch game but loves to check out the bin and pick what she likes!
Reo has adjusted well to cohabitating with a pack of rescue Seniors though she might be happiest without any competition at all. She just loves to lay by your feet for a belly rub and will follow you around wherever you go even if she is worn out keeping up! Don’t count Reo out of anything... she is game for it all.
Reo arrived with significant orthopedic pain... xrays confirmed severe arthritis in her back and back legs though no dysplasia. She often positions her back left leg under her belly, creating a tri-pod support enabling her to then use her front legs to move forward. It’s pretty amazing to see. The assumption is some trauma in her history and considering she did wander the tiny street on her own sometimes, it’s possible she was grazed by a car. Reo is on daily pain medication and doing very well. It’s still hard to watch her get herself up from laying down but once she’s up, she knows how to move to minimize discomfort.
No matter what her movements look like, Reo is just undeterred - she is truly an inspiration and also exactly what this breed is all about - they have such a will to never give up. She will be getting a dental since she has teeth that will need to come out. Soon as her dental is done, she’ll be available for possible adoption. Reo lived in Virginia but lost her home due to the guardian’s illness. A neighbor stepped to find her help.
