PEARL is estimated to be 12 years old but that age just means 12 years of sweetness…what a gem this girl is! It’s stunning to think of her fending for herself, living outside her whole life. Thankfully a kind-hearted dog lover gave her warm bedding, food & water on the porch after finding her freezing outside in one winter snowstorm.

Though living in South Carolina, this geography has snow and it was truly frigid and she was in trouble. The nearby neighbor who was Pearl’s person didn’t want her anymore, leaving her to stray. It’s hard to imagine someone so cruel to such a marvelous, adorable Border Collie…honestly mind-blowing but that is thankfully in the past.

As you might imagine, Pearl is VERY happy to be in a cozy, warm home full-time, cherished as part of the Glen Highland Sanctuary. Luckily for Pearl, a relative reached out to ensure that Pearl would have her remaining years with us and we were happy to help.

Though her story now is good, it comes with a bit more sad news since the extensive vetting we have done is leading to a diagnosis of cancer. We’ll be investigating this further but with high calcium levels, both vets assessing her situation say it’s more likely cancer than not. We will update Pearl’s life at Glen Highland, no matter how long or short.

We know she is happy, eating well, making new friends and exploring a life where people truly care for her as a friend.

Everyone at Glen Highland is smitten and grateful to be part of her world. She is a petite sweetheart, about 35 pounds of love!

Special thanks to Olga Cadilla-Sayres, Aiyana Persinger and Tim Mills who helped transport Pearl to Glen Highland.
