Sweet Wren returned to spirit on 10/4/25 with a simple goodbye filled with love and caring, yet giving her plenty of room to soar to the other side. She was her own ‘being’ living in her own way with a small focus on life that included other dogs, a couple people and the great outdoors. She had little ability to meet the expectations of the ideal dog…instead she was a gentle soul moving on the earth finding her own tiny journey. A small world suited her just fine and we were pleased to offer this soft landing from start to finish until cancer overtook her health.

Wren originally came to us in 2014 from a horrific newsworthy confiscation in NY. Then she headed to a loving home for 11 years but returned to Glen Highland at age 12 when the guardian became ill. Through all the years, Wren blossomed in small increments, enjoying a cozy home setting and having a full belly but all the while, ‘a visitor’ in the human world.

Over the years of Glen Highland, we have met various Border Collies like Wren and recognize they are learning about being a dog and living with humans but they are really TEACHERS…showing up to remind us that THEY have a path all their own and WE are just partners in a very small adventure that is THEIR LIFE.

Godspeed Wren…fly on…find your next place to land…. we loved the visit with you.

You are free to choose again.

Wren was fostered with a ‘friend of the farm’ who then adopted her. Her Fur-Mom adored her and expected little but a good companion so this semi-feral girl could just be herself and blossom, finally cared for properly. In a loving home all these years, Wren became normal as can be in her little world!

Her guardian's unexpected illness and injury meant Wren needed a safe refuge again and of course, like with all our Glen Highland adoptees, we brought her from New York to Virginia.

Wren is bravely checking out everything around her with lots of curiosity, clearly not the same shut down, terrified dog of years ago. It’s wonderful to see her so confident and see how quickly she bonded to our Caretaker. A petite, pretty girl, we’re happy to carry on for her remaining years making them as joyous as possible.

At age 12, Wren is happy to be in a safe refuge with BC buddies.

Special thanks to Vicki Buono & Aiyana Persinger & Tim Mills for making it possible to move Wren to Virginia.
