Being somewhat similar to their GH alum, Zxena, they were ready to bring another rescue into their hearts and home. They understood how a softer, shy, undersocialized Border Collie would need plenty of time to blossom without pressure. We were sooooo excited for Ace where he could now live with very patient, very kind and very soulful people so he could relax and learn to trust everything around him. Ace did so well with his training time at Glen Highland but still needed just the right spot to flourish…now he’s got it! YAY Ace!!! He hopped up on the couch confidently and played with toys SOON as he landed…more comfortable than we’d seen him in weeks… Ace voted very quickly…this is HOME!!!

ACE'S HISTORY This handsome 3 year old smooth-coat Border Collie is classic in his sensitivity and desire to please. Super sweet with a soft nature, he responds well to reassurance he’s a ‘good boy’. He loves belly rubs and gives little licks on your hand when he’s happy. Ace is a people focused dog and is longing to find someone he can feel safe with because he is clearly worried now in new situations - people places and dogs. Ace will need someone skilled with the breed to help him adjust. Regardless of his stress level, he is a gentle Border Collie trying hard.
Ace is NOT aggressive but he IS a worrier and fearful. |
His outside life was only leash walking and being tied on a rope so we are now giving him a chance to run free as a normal young Border Collie loves to do. Ace absolutely loves exploring freely and finding confidence with his own choices. He will only be placed with a fenced yard. Ace found his way to Glen Highland since he was minutes from us at the Humane Society. He is the third young Border Collie we’ve helped from this shelter. He and another dog were both left at the shelter right before the New Year the reason being ’no longer can care for them’. He is currently in boarding since our Senior Rescue is completely full and other Virginia BC rescues are also full. He is 46 pounds. ACE is part of Glen Highland’s LUKE’S FUND, a program for young dogs in crisis. |
