We are so thrilled for 5 year old Hampton and his new FurMom…she spotted him on the Glen Highland site and soon as we started talking, it was clear that these two were meant for each other.

Sweet, gentle Hampton found his thoughtful, kind new guardian and as they met it was instantly as if they were old friends finding each other again. She dropped to her knees and he came right over to spend time saying hello. Her tears were flowing and his comfort was loud and clear - she is here! They were like this for quite a long time, clearly a bit of destiny at work.

Hampton turned out to really need a special person and lucky for us, we were participants in a wonderful unfolding. He will be with her 24/7 since she works at home and as the only dog, he’ll be front and center as her dearest partner in life, exactly what she was looking to find. Hampton now lives in Virginia, cherished in a loving life.

BEST NEWS TO ADD is Hampton is NOW HEARTWORM NEGATIVE so can proceed with the hip dysplasia surgery to fix his back leg. Soon he will be able to run without pain and truly be a Border Collie!

Hampton was one of ten younger Border Collies helped by Glen Highland’s LUKE’S FUND, a special program for younger dogs in crisis. LUKE’S FUND will handle the orthopedic surgery costs so appreciate all the Angel support given to this wonderful guy.

HAMPTON'S HISTORY

HAMPTON is an old soul in a young aged body, only 5 years old. His gentle nature is so loving and sweet, truly happy to be quietly by your feet or following wherever you go in the house. He does love exploring outside with his person but likes to be close, not one to roam far. He is a very easy guy with so much charm.

Hampton's calmer nature comes from years in a breeding situation living with numerous Border Collies where the dog numbers outweighed the human numbers. He won favor so had lots of inside house time and learned to leave all the chaotic herding games to the others. He just wanted his person…that means the world to him.

Hampton needs a special home that is quieter without a busy neighborhood with loud city oriented sounds. And a smaller family would be easier for him as he can be worried meeting numerous people at once. He will give his heart fully and with confidence to someone who can patiently create a safe world for him.

He has two medical challenges with heartworm and a bad hip that would benefit from repair. Glen Highland will commit to cover the cost of an FHO to give him more pain-free motion but it will only be done after his heartworm is clear. This surgery can be part of his adoption agreement.

Hampton is now undergoing the slow-kill protocol of heartworm treatment since his case is mild and his condition on arrival was so delicate. He came to rescue very underweight with skin issues and neglect that needed to be turned around.

Thankfully, after five months, he’s gained great strength and better health so is now ready for a new life. He loves his cozy home spot on the couch and bed and hanging with his rescue pals!! Hampton is close 50 pounds and good with cats.

Hampton was helped by LUKE'S FUND - a Glen Highland program to assist younger dogs in crisis.
