This is a story of KINDNESS…
Border Collies bonding people together heart to heart as well as human to canine...

An itty-bitty Border Collie needed a new life at age 11 when her guardians died and she needed it quickly. So with the help of Farm friends in Maryland, they picked her up from New Jersey and planned to bring her to Virginia within a few days. Of course, they fell in love. But, the story doesn’t end there because Jazz wasn’t having any friendship with their BC so that home option was not to be.

So, down to Virginia she came where she showed her big brain personality within moments of arrival, clearly an amazing girl who had worked sheep. She had such ‘eye’ and could control Lillie’s entire pack of 12, instantly…they recognized a BIG BOSS right away. But, it was her HEART that just exploded with love and joy - AN AMAZING ENERGY EMANATED FROM HER. She has so much to give to someone and was so ready to do just that.

Lillie recognized that this tiny powerhouse was meant to be with a former GHF adopter who had been longing to add a new friend after the passing of their GHF sweetheart, Vala in June 2019. They were exactly the hearts that could fit together…knowing these adopters and knowing this special little BC, it was so right and six days later, she was on her way!

Such a logistical journey this 30 pound girl would take: from NJ to MD to VA and onto NY! Lovely Farm friends, also adopters, volunteers and donors, wanted to visit from NY with a gift for Lillie and the new site of Glen Highland. It had been over two years in the making, step by step..a gift of love…they wanted to deliver themselves. They quickly then became the ride back north for Jazz!!!

So, when you see the smiling face of Jazz’s new FurMom finally united with another BC girl with a heart of gold, remember all the people behind the scenes that made it all happen.  This one-of-a-kind ‘heart dog’ is now where she needs to be. She’ll be her constant 24/7 companion, even enjoying a lake house in the summer with lots to explore and a world she can keep in line!

And, it’s all thanks to another Border Collie named Luke who 25 years ago came into the lives of Lillie Goodrich & John Andersen and changed their journey completely. His heart met theirs and the rest is history! Now, this gorgeous hand-carved bench (shown below) will honor an amazing union of hearts forever, as it sits in Virginia, a gift of such kindness and love that only Border Collies could spark.

Thank you to Cathy & Steve Bouck for this remarkable kindness, perfectly honoring Glen Highland and so very precious now in light of John’s passing this year. And, thank you to Jazz who shared that magical quality that is so special about this breed…blowing open all the hearts she touched and will touch ahead.
