Beautiful 10 year old BLUE found himself needing a new home when his guardians were moving out of the country. They contacted Glen Highland we happily found the perfect life within the five days they had before leaving! Athletic and sweet as can be, he needed just the right people to give him lots of exercise as well as love cause he is a young senior!! Now in the hands of his new guardians, he will be racing and chasing the ball in the fields near their home as well as learning lots of new tricks to stimulate that brilliant mind of his!

He lived in New Hampshire not far from the home now his where he’s laid out for a nap content with his new journey. Congrats to Blue and his new FurMom & Dad!!

We are always happy to make good matches and help Border Collies any way we can!

LOKI is one lucky Border Collie…he’s found the perfect GHF adopters who could patiently guide him through his next phase of growth to develop into the best BC he can be.

He came to GHF as a pup, went to a great home but after a couple years, his issues were difficult to handle so trying to find another understanding adopter took time…and now he is SET! His GHF alum, Desmo is easy going and helping keep the canine trio balanced while Loki learns from Leah, a strong-minded BC with issues of her own. Loki’s new guardians understand the troubles that can come with brilliant dogs who have a start that really isn’t the right fit, leaving a lifetime of management ahead. They stepped in to give him his forever home and do whatever it takes to make that possible - they have been on a trial adoption for months. He recently went on his first camping trip and did beautifully, giving them the final piece of understanding to call the adoption official! Congrats to LOKI who landed now, for life…this special BC needed special people and they found each other!

GHF was contacted for help with 5 month old BARKLEY who needed a new home due to a move. His previous guardians came east and landed in the Philadelphia city area, but felt it was not right for a Border Collie so hoped for a new life to better suit him. We were thrilled to help connect former Glen Highland adopters together with Barkley’s family. Dear Friends of the Farm, they had been longing to add a new pup after the loss of their beloved GH alum, Brody and searching everywhere with no luck so to say they are excited, is an understatement. Now, Barkley has 82 acres to call his own plus two guardians who adore the breed and were thrilled to finally have a new beloved BC again!

We are so happy to share that PATCHES found a great new life with a lovely guardian who was so excited to have another beloved BC in her heart. And, Patches jumped right in with her sweet nature... she said, ‘she’ll be the love of my life’... they hit it off so well. Patches now has 13 acres to enjoy along with her new FurMom who will be with her 24/7, making an ideal Border Collie life!! She now lives in Virginia.

A huge thanks to Janine Choplick who allowed us to stage a meet and greet in her PA back yard to make it easier on Patches who was in rescue in NY so Patches easily headed a bit further south into her new home!

In a bit of ‘kismet’, we were able to easily help a wonderful 10 year old Border Collie, SHADOW, find a new life especially suited to him!

A sweet, super soft guy, he needed another BC pal and people who understood his sensitive nature. Two days before we were asked to help Shadow, former adopters had lost their beloved BC Jack, another softie needing just the right fit when they met him years ago.

So, in classic Glen Highland style, a match-making event unfolded and Shadow met his new guardians days later. He is now the 9th Border Collie to jump into their hearts, carrying on the beautiful connection that they cherish. His previous guardian adored him but his two non-BCs were just too rough on this sweet guy so he selflessly sought out a new life for Shadow.

We were so thrilled to make this happen for all involved... healing hearts, sharing the unconditional love between dogs and humans... a good day’s work!

CHESTER landed in a new life where he will be center stage, with former GHF adopters who were looking again after the loss of their beloved BC. They felt drawn to Chester and eagerly met him to see if he could join their lives. Instantly, they were a match as he happily checked out the property and called it AND them, his own! He’ll have them 24/7 and 14 acres to call his own to explore and play! We are so happy for them and for Chester, who really deserved the years ahead where he was in the spotlight. He now lives in upstate NY.

Special thanks to Noelle & Ian, GHF adopters who evaluated and helped make it possible for GHF to assist Chester.

Yea for Parker! We are excited to announce that Parker has found a home, right here with our Senior Caretaker!

As we get to know various rescue dogs coming in, some are clearly eager and able to head off to a new life, making another change. Others are not so steady to make that happen. We are always cautious about assuming they need to ‘go out’ and wait to see what they want.

While Parker has easy going qualities that made him seem flexible, he also has a careful nature, not always at ease. As he truly landed at GHF, he blossomed in such a settled, secure way, our caretaker just knew it wasn’t right to move him again. And of course, she just fell in love with this sensitive and reserved boy as she watched his worries melt away revealing a funny goofy boy! Parker loves his new yard, breaking into a run in the middle of the field just for the heck of it, or sitting quietly on the knoll looking out, nose to the air, content as can be. He’s made fast friends with his fur sister Jane and the other senior dogs, herding and tugging and even winning over a few of the ‘grumpier’ residents! And best of all Parker has found a new mission being a steady guide and a ‘heart’ worker to our Caretaker, the perfect connection for this gentle boy with a huge heart.

Former GHF adopters spotted Tip on the site and felt drawn to add him to their lives after the loss of their beloved BC pair. We were absolutely thrilled for Tip to be in a home where he could share his amazing heart with people who so love the breed. As they heard more details about him, it was so clear that he would fill their home with such joy, they wanted to come for him right away. Tip is now playing ball, following them around 24/7 and starting a new life at age 13, just days after his birthday!

A quick snapshot of Tess arriving home after a long drive, about to start her new journey with a former GHF adopter who was so pleased to add another special Border Collie to her life!

The two of them will be together 24/7 getting to know each other as the months unfold, sharing all the love between canine and human, joining hearts together. We know these two will bond quickly and Tess will even have an opportunity to learn fun tricks cause her new FurMom loves to teach all kinds of activities to her furry pals. Highly food motivated, her new guardian got a chance to see what motivates her first-hand, on arrival: “She is very busy exploring everything and getting every crumb my vacuum missed!” We are so pleased for these two!!

We are so happy for MARLEIGH to find a new chapter of her journey with a former GHF adopter!

He had been patiently waiting for just the right BC to join him after the passing of his GHF boy, Oats so when he heard about Marleigh, he headed to meet her. He has had many Border Collies and loves the brilliance of the breed so when he connected with this softer, sweet BC, he felt he could adjust all his experiences into a great life for both of them. We agreed and off she went to be his beloved friend 24/7, going everywhere with him. A special thanks to Dave Cameron who helped oversee the process.

NEW LIVES FOR FLORA & ROSIE, TWO DESERVING YOUNG BCs!

We are so pleased to work closely with our rescue colleague, East Coast Herding Dog Organization (ECHO) to help two young BCs find better lives. Both were part of a backyard breeder ‘give-up’ that came to GHF. Time was of the essence, so a GHF team headed into southern PA, pulling four young dogs. The youngest pups found great homes quickly and now, FLORA & ROSIE have landed, too! ECHO agreed to foster these girls to be sure they were safe. Together, GHF & ECHO covered their needs, ultimately landing them great homes!

We wanted to give a big shout-out to Debbie Lazaro of ECHO; Margie Flagg, the GHF adopter, who fostered Flora; Rosie Sutherland, the GHF adopter who fostered Kya (who is now named after her, as Rosie!) and also to Mackayla Luse and Lisa Barrett, GHF adopters who transported the dogs! This effort required quick juggling within hours to ‘pass the dogs to rescue’!

Meet FLORA, an 8 month old pretty red merle…loaded with worries and a very skittish nature, Margie offered to foster and after a couple months, knew this special needs girl needed to stay right in that home! So, Flora has joined the pack with two GHF alums and is learning how life works in true BC home! Watching her blossom has been a profound experience for Margie and we are so grateful for all she is tackling to make Flora’s life great.

Meet ROSIE aka Kya, a gorgeous 3 year old red merle used for breeding and now thankfully, living life large with just fun on her mind! Her foster mom, enjoyed watching this girl learn to mix with her pack and thrive with new chances to learn and just be herself, without any worries. Rosie now joins GHF alum, Marco, who is adjusting to a ‘princess’ in his midst!

Sophie in 2010 at 9 months old (above) and now in 2020 at 8 years old (below)!

At GHF, we continue our commitment to help any GHF Border Collie in need so when 8 year old SOPHIE needed to be rescued yet again after the first time in 2012, we jumped into action!  So many years had passed and now Sophie had a 4 year old BC mix pal, Patsy, who also needed a new home! They had to find the RIGHT place right after Christmas so fast action was needed!

We reviewed all the emails of folks looking for dogs to adopt as well as all our adopters who had asked to be put ‘on file’ if dogs popped up but it was one applicant who said they’d take TWO that really made it all happen! Sophie & Patsy remain together, happily enjoying a loving home able to go from their GHF adoptive home right into their new GHF home!
Their new guardians drove five hours, arranged for a local vet to visit the home while there and get them squared away and then headed off the next morning to take the girls HOME FOREVER!  We are so thrilled to make this easy on them both to stay together and still have exactly what they deserve.  Their GHF adopter had health challenges and a divorce, leaving him with no choice but to contact us for help... we are always here for any GHF alum!

Happy Trails to Sophie & Patsy and their new guardians!

Patsy (above) is relieved she was able to go to a new home together with her bestie, Sophie!
