Little LUCY found her forever life with a former GH adopter who was drawn to her soon as he saw her! Being from New Hampshire, it took some effort to juggle how to make the trek and also his beloved Jakey was not too well so adding Lucy wasn’t the right timing. An adopter of two GH Border Collies, he understood Lucy’s rough start, likely stuck in a breeder pen because he had two dogs from a similar situation. Patience, love and consistency helped them transform to dear friends.

LUCY'S STORY Tiny, puppy-sized LUCY is likely 9 with the energy of a younger Border Collie. She is the sweetest little dog with the nicest nature and full of excitement! Her favorite thing is racing over to your lap for a cuddle and then running off to see what else is going on though with belly rubs, she’ll stay right there forever! Lucy has made great progress in every way, emotionally, mentally and physically. The severe neglect left her with a mouthful of dental disease which is now completely handled, leaving her happily pain-free. She came to life once the teeth were removed and could care less there are only four left! She actually is even more adorable with that tongue over to the side giving her a happy smile that instantly makes new friends. Miss little LUCY is adjusting to life in a house and now enjoying toys! She prefers to squeak her favorites all by herself, tossing and catching, making her own version of fun. She is also very content when near her person and will enjoy the toys or just hang out, glad to be nearby. We’re pretty sure this is her first time in a normal home setting so thrilled to see her adapting. Lucy’s history is really unknown but we do know she needs a patient person in a quiet home without a lot of chaos. She is very, very affectionate so will blossom with someone focused on her and give her heart to whomever loves her. She has some challenges with her lack of experience like normal loud sounds of trash trucks, vacuum cleaners and other things she likely never saw but she will trust a person who guides her through these worries. Lucy has no leash walking skills yet but again, submits to anything asked of her and will try her best. She tries hard to please and is very food oriented so with time, could do well. Lucy is ready for adoption now and we are thrilled for her. Her surgery for the uterine remnant is conclusively good... no cancer, just an odd situation that happened and is now resolved. The specialist who handled her needs is convinced she is completely fine going forward. We all cherish this sweet girl and want her to have the best life possible…she is quite a charmer! She is 30 pounds. She prefers male border collies and will do best with a pal or as a solo dog. Special thanks to volunteers Katie Toczek, Katie Brennan and GH adopter Imbi Kiiss…they are the reason Lucy is safe with us. We're also glad to be working with Anderson Co. PAWS rescue coordinator, Cheyenne Mulkey who works tirelessly to help the 8 - 10,000 animals that land there each year. |
