One of FIVE new Seniors taken into Glen Highland at the end of June, 11 year old MONTY won our hearts seeing his sad face stuck in a North Carolina shelter... he was clearly suffering. Upon talking to the shelter, they were thrilled for rescue help because he was injured and unable to walk properly without limping and dragging one leg…they didn’t even want to risk moving him to the vet. His microchip contact information was disconnected, leaving him on his own with no history.

Acting quickly, we moved him into a temporary foster home of a former GH adopter now living in South Carolina… that simple decision led to the best news ever…MONTY FOUND A NEW HOME! This sweet gentle boy of almost 70 pounds! is a Border Collie or Aussie mix and DID have a serious injury but it was an old one, a bad fracture that left him with severe spondylosis in his mid-back and pelvic area, leaving him in awful pain. He dragged the injured leg due to the painful arthritis there as well as in his knee. To say that Monty was suffering is an understatement.

Thankfully, his diagnostic lab-work was all good and is now feeling better on pain medicine and the Myos supplement for muscle development! He was also infested with fleas and anemic - all fixable - but did need a true groomer’s clip so he will have gorgeous hair again soon. He’s been hanging with his new pack of friends and fits in beautifully. An easy guy, he’s happy to have a place to lay his head to rest and, yes he sleeps with his tongue out!!

A huge thanks to Jean Serfass for opening her heart and home to Monty as well as Katie Brennan for transporting him. We are thrilled to have given MONTY a chance at a new life!
