Meet the Rescues The Mission About GHF Donate

• Other BC friends good
• Fenced yard
• No cats - terrified of them

At age 10, Corey is a very gentle soul, not making waves with any of his new rescue pals and in fact, easily jumping into his new life. He likes to be with the group and do a bit of herding but is not intense whatsoever and if any dog gives him the signal to back off, he does so immediately.

He is a comical character at times, very puppy like with charming antics! He is really enjoying squeaky toys and engaging in tug games with his rescue pals as well as entertaining himself with great delight! In getting to know Corey, we expect he will grow and blossom beautifully into a new situation but he needs patient guardians who do not force him. He is curious and loves to engage with everyone but needs a little reassurance since everything is so new.

Corey is unique in a physical way with an apparent previous trauma to his head, leaving him with a tilt as well as eye sight deficiencies. He learned to live compensating with what is likely depth perception issues and/or double vision. Sometimes he needs time to spot things close to him and time to track things at a distance. Of course, nothing deters him from having fun especially with another Border Collie around. He would benefit from a mentor type friend, especially since he loves the herding action!

We’d like to give Corey an active Border Collie life with someone who loves him for all his charm. And, is patient with him for his needs. He is a soft dog who can worry with fast movement of humans around him or shapes in new places he’s never been but his determination to ’see’ it all is impressive. With greats hearing, nothing holds him back from investigating!

Corey is a throwback to dogs who become known as ‘everyone’s friend’. He was a beloved dog in a Virginia community where he was allowed to run free and many people in the neighborhood came to say goodbye as Corey headed off to rescue! He is about 50 pounds.
