HAPPY-GO-LUCKY PAIR LOOKING FOR LOVE

JAX, age 11 & JILL, age 8 are like an old married couple, totally aware of each other all the time! Checking in, correcting each other, rough housing, cleaning eachother’s faces... they are totally in sync for better or worse!

Both are extremely easy going, good natured Border Collies, just happy to be with people. Wherever you walk, they are nearby…wherever you sit, they are at your feet…clearly loved companions in their former life.

Both lived together up until November 2024 with elderly guardians who passed, leaving them in the care of relatives who tried to make it work, but found their apartment life wasn’t ideal. We happily agreed to help and both dogs flourished with acres to explore at Glen Highland. They chase balls, they chase squirrels, they rest outside in the sun and watch the action, keeping track of everything. They are ‘plugged-in’ focused thinking Border Collies, back to their nature.

We would love to see this pair found a life other than rescue. While we adore them, they would love more attention since both are so people-centric…truly people are #1 on their list. THEY LOVE EVERYONE THEY MEET!

What they need is simple:
• No cats
• No other dogs
• Fenced yard
• A one-floor level home
• And someone who loves this breed!

What makes them challenging:
• Both are large boned BCs…Jax is 47lbs and Jill is 63lbs
• They need ramps to get in the car
• Jax has arthritic front legs & Jill has severe hip dysplasia**
• They require pain meds for comfort - it’s working well
• Neither favor other dogs since they are so bonded

JAX & JILL need 6 more angels!

All Border Collies have specific traits and quirks and needs, though Jax & Jill are a dream pair. Their life together is totally worked out so they have a shorthand between them that comes from years of interaction. Jill and Jax are well matched and trot around happily wherever they explore together!

**We investigated hip surgery options for Jill with a renown orthopedic specialist and it turns she is not a good candidate. Mother nature has redesigned her body as ‘it is’ and disturbing it with surgery comes with too many risks.

We have concluded that pain management is the key and working well for Jill now so she is really mobile. She will ’self-limit’ when needed and rest herself.
