Glen Highland | Senior Border Collie Rescue & Sanctuary

ROSEY is a delightful 11 year old with a wonderful friendly nature, eager to say hello and loving a cuddle! We were hoping for an adoptive home for her to be the full center of attention. It was a long shot since her diabetes is a deterrent for most people, so Rosey is staying at Glen Highland as a Resident.

She is the first to greet you at the door, just the kindest little soul. She is all about people! She quickly comes to you, paws waving, with little whines of delight! Before you know it, she’s got you rubbing her belly, her tail wagging the whole time.

Rosey has got the Sanctuary routine down, reminding the caretaker as mealtimes approach. Then when her food is prepped, she is already in her room standing by! Outside, she loves a good roll in the dirt, investigating where squirrels have been foraging and an occasional herding outrun as others fetch toys. She enjoys the company of her fellow Residents, especially her BFF Archie! Rosey also loves a game of tag with people… she chases you and enthusiastically tags you with both paws!

Rosey’s diabetes has been carefully regulated since arrival and she’s done very, very well. Even now, as we track her insulin needs she is moving from 7 units to 6 because her body is balancing with solid nutrition and proper dosing.

HOWEVER, her remaining eye developed pressure issues that are leading to possible surgery and/or removal. Rosey already had her left eye removed prior to arrival due to glaucoma from diabetes.

Diabetes often leads to eye issues and blindness so we are working closely with an eye specialist who has cared for many of our rescues and hopeful he will find the best solution for her. Fingers crossed for this sweetheart to keep her eyesight.

Rosey had a rough start which is thankfully behind her. A caring dog lover stepped in to rescue her in May 2025 from a neglectful situation andthen reached out to us for help. Her diabetes was unregulated prior to arrival at Glen Highland so she lost sight in one eye but we are optimistic that now better managed, she will do well for years ahead. Special thanks to Chase Crimi and her Mom, Susan, who helped truly save Rosey’s life.
